CES 2021: ASUS ROG Flow X13, Zephyrus Duo 15 SE and Other Exciting Devices

ASUS has unveiled a plethora of new ROG devices and peripherals at CES 2021, which includes the ASUS ROG Flow X13, Zephyrus Duo 15 SE, Strix SCAR 17, and many more.

The ASUS ROG Flow X13 is a 13-inch ultraportable gaming laptop powered by up to an AMD Ryzen 9 59870HS mobile processor CPU and GeForce GTX 1650 graphics. It is capable of up to 10 hours of gaming on a full charge, thanks to its energy-efficient CPU aiding in prolonging battery life.

Besides that, the Flow X13’s uniqueness is that it features a flip design that allows the screen to be flipped 360-degree for use in various scenarios. The display is available with a 120Hz FHD panel or a high-res 4K panel that is protected by Corning Gorilla glass and features a narrow-frame design and support for touch and stylus input.

Another main feature of the ASUS ROG Flow X13 is that it could be paired with the XG Mobile, which is an external GPU with NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 graphics. When connected, XG Mobile gives Flow X13 a graphical prowess that is equivalent to full-sized gaming rigs. A proprietary eGPU connector dedicates 63 Gbps of bandwidth exclusively to graphics, resulting in significantly higher performance than Thunderbolt eGPUs.

The cooling system of the ASUS ROG Flow X13 is fine-tuned for high performance in a small chassis. ROG is the first to apply AMD CPUs with liquid metal in mass-produced laptops. Flow X13 has three heatsinks and fan outlets, and new Arc Flow fans that improve airflow by up to 15% without increasing noise. A self-cleaning thermal module also ensures reliable performance over time. ROG offers multiple operating modes so users can tune the cooling system for different requirements.

The Zephyrus Duo 15 SE features the ROG ScreenPad Plus, which is a secondary screen for more usable on-screen space for gaming or productive tasks. The screen will tilt upwards to provide a better viewing angle when being used. Gamers can use the ScreenPad Plus secondary panel to browse the web, read emails, chat over instant messaging apps, or to stream or record gameplay. In addition to that, ROG has collaborated with companies like XSplit Gamecaster for additional interactive content on the secondary display.

Besides that, the Zephyrus Duo 15 SE is powered by up to an AMD Ryzen 9 5900HX mobile processor CPU and NVIDIA GeForce RTX3080 graphics. The thin bezel display is a 120Hz 4K screen with 100% sRGB color space coverage, PANTONE validation, and supports Adaptive Sync.

The upgraded Active Aerodynamic System Plus (AAS+) cooling system allows more power to be fed to the CPU and GPU without increasing noise levels. The design provides an air intake underneath the secondary display to aid cooling. It features new Arc Flow fans that increase airflow by 13% over the previous generation, transfers heat from the AMD CPU with a liquid metal thermal compound, and uses five heat pipes and four heatsinks with an increased surface area.

The Strix SCAR 17 was designed to be the ultimate portable esports machine, it offers superfast visuals as it is equipped with a 360Hz FHD panel with a 3ms response time. There is also an optional 165Hz WQHD panel that combines fluidity with higher detail and a DCI-P3 color gamut.

This gaming powerhouse could be spec-ed with up to GeForce 3080 graphics and up to AMD Ryzen 9 5900HX mobile processor CPU. It also could be fitted with up to 64GB of RAM and features new fans and liquid metal cooling.

Besides that, the SCAR 17 has a built-in optical-mechanical keyboard, it features per-key RGB lighting, 1.9mm key travel, and zero debounce delay. The trackpad is also 85% larger than its predecessor.

Overall, the new SCAR 17 is smaller than its predecessor, its exterior also features new design elements which include a light bar around the front edge of the chassis and an additional light strip under the display.

Besides laptops, ASUS also unveiled several other peripherals.

The Swift PG32UQ claims to be the world’s first 32-inch HDMI 2.1 gaming monitor and features a 144Hz panel with a 1ms moving picture response time (MPRT). There are two HDMI 2.1 ports to support the 4K visuals at up to 120Hz.

The Swift PG32UQ is G-SYNC Compatible ready and features ASUS Extreme Low Motion Blur Sync (ELMB Sync) technology and ASUS Variable Overdrive technology for consistently smooth visuals at variable frame rates. For color performance, PG32UQ is DisplayHDR 600 compliant, has 160% sRGB and 98% DCI-P3 color gamut support, and is factory pre-calibrated to ensure Delta E < 2 color accuracy.

The Claymore II is ROG’s flagship RGB mechanical keyboard, it is also the first gaming keyboard to feature ROG RX Blue Optical Mechanical Switches. The switches are a hollow-square stem design, with an X-shaped stabilizer to prevent key wobble. The switches have a lifespan of 100-million-keypress lifespan that ensures extreme durability. The keyboard is available in ROG RX Red Switches.

The Claymore II has a magnetic wrist rest and a detachable Numpad that can be attached to either side of the keyboard, it has a volume scroll wheel for adjustment. The Claymore II is also wireless capable and has a 4,000mAh battery that provides up to 40 hours of use on a single charge.

The Gladius III Wireless is ROG’s flagship wireless mouse with an ergonomic 19,000 dpi gaming mouse with advanced tri-mode connectivity with wired, wireless 2.4GHz RF and Bluetooth modes. It supports both traditional 3-pin mechanical and 5-pin Omron optical micro switches, allowing the user to tailor the button click and feel of their mouse and also replace switches when switches are worn out.
