vivo has officially launched its new X500 Series in Shanghai, introducing the vivo X500 Pro Max, X500 Pro and X500. The new flagship series is the opening chapter of the company’s new dynamic imaging strategy, with a focus on delivering improvements across both photography and video.
According to vivo, the X500 Series builds on its decade of development in smartphone imaging by combining advances in sensors, imaging chips and algorithms. The company is positioning the series around five key dynamic imaging standards: high dynamic range, professional image quality, cinematic colour, professional stabilisation and dynamic consistency.
The series also introduces several new imaging capabilities, including the vivo × Sony LYTIA L910 sensor with 17 EV ultra-high dynamic range, 4K 240fps Cinematic Slow-Mo Video and 8K Native Live across the range. The X500 Pro Series additionally supports professional Log video recording with 10-bit 4:2:2 encoding and ACES support.
vivo X500 Pro Max
The vivo X500 Pro Max is the highest-end model in the new series and introduces the new vivo × Sony LYTIA L910 sensor, which offers up to 17 EV of true output dynamic range. vivo says this allows the camera to retain detail in challenging lighting conditions, extending its backlight performance from still photography to video recording.
For telephoto photography, the X500 Pro Max is equipped with a 200MP ZEISS APO Telephoto Camera. It supports the 400mm equivalent vivo ZEISS Telephoto Extender Gen 2 Ultra, while the telephoto camera also features CIPA 7.0 Professional Stabilisation and a 1,536-point multi-zone laser focus system.
The main camera uses vivo’s ZEISS TrueDynamic Main Camera with 3° gimbal-grade OIS, while both the main and telephoto cameras achieve CIPA 7.0 Professional Stabilisation. The system is designed to provide more stable footage when shooting while moving.
Video recording is another major focus, with the X500 Pro Max supporting 4K 240fps Cinematic Slow-Mo Video and 8K Native Live. The phone also supports 17 EV TrueDynamic Log Video, 10-bit 4:2:2 encoding and ACES, while vivo has worked with DaVinci to enable official colour transformation for Log footage.
The X500 Pro Max is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 9600 Pro, paired with vivo’s V3+ Imaging Chip and VS1+ Pro Imaging Chip. It also features a 6.85-inch BOE Q11 2K ZEISS Master Color Display and a 7,800mAh BlueVolt Battery. The phone runs OriginOS 7 and supports features such as Origin Workbench and Seamless Interaction.
vivo X500 Pro
The vivo X500 Pro shares much of the imaging technology found on the Pro Max, including the ZEISS TrueDynamic Main Camera with a 1/1.28-inch sensor and ZEISS T* Coating. Its ZEISS APO Telephoto Camera also supports CIPA 7.0 Professional Stabilisation.
The X500 Pro Series introduces 4K 240fps Cinematic Slow-Mo Video, allowing users to capture fast-moving moments such as liquid splashes and bursting bubbles in slow motion.
For more advanced video creation, the X500 Pro supports 17 EV TrueDynamic Log Video with 10-bit 4:2:2 encoding and ACES. The series also supports official colour transformation through DaVinci, allowing Log footage to be colour-graded in the same colour space used by professional cinema camera footage.
The phones also support 4K 120fps 10-bit Log burn-in direct output and 4K 120fps AF Tracking Video, which can re-engage focus when a subject becomes temporarily obscured by foreground objects. There is also 4K Cinematic Portrait Video, combining portrait beautification with HDR production standards.
For colour expression, vivo has introduced six cinematic video colour styles: Golden, Platinum, Sunny Day, Paris Afterglow, Noir and Amber. The X500 Pro Series also supports 8K Native Live, keeping the cover frame and video stream consistent in colour and perspective.
The Cinema mode adds four camera movement options, namely Auto Framing Video, Vortex Shot, Super Slow-Mo and Dual View.
Under the hood, the X500 Pro is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 9600 Pro, built on the second-generation 2nm N2P process. It features a 6.36-inch ZEISS Master Color Display and a 6,510mAh BlueVolt Battery. Like the Pro Max, it runs OriginOS 7 and has passed vivo Lab’s 72-month anti-ageing model test.
The X500 Pro is available in four nature-inspired colours: Sunny White, Starry Gray, Moonlit Black and Sunset Orange.
vivo X500
The standard vivo X500 brings several of the series’ imaging technologies to a more accessible model. It uses the same vivo × Sony LYTIA 828 sensor as the vivo X300 Pro for its main camera, featuring a 1/1.28-inch sensor and ZEISS Gimbal-Grade OIS.
For telephoto photography, the X500 uses the vivo × Sony LYTIA 610 sensor, supporting 64MP photography, 4K 120fps High-Spec Slow-Motion Video and CIPA 5.5 Professional Stabilisation. The sensor uses a Green 1×1 RB 2×2 OCL pixel structure, combining the resolving capability of a 1×1 configuration with the focusing performance of a 2×2 configuration.
The X500 also supports 4K 120fps slow motion, cinematic colour styles and 4K 60fps Cinematic Portrait Video across all focal lengths. Professional video features include 4K 120fps 10-bit Log and 4K 120fps HLG recording.
vivo has also brought 8K Native Live to the standard X500, making the feature available across the entire X500 Series.
For users looking for greater telephoto reach, the X500 supports the 200mm equivalent vivo ZEISS Telephoto Extender Gen 2. Weighing 153g with a 96mm ultra-compact body, the extender supports 14 shooting modes, including portrait, landscape and stage photography.
The vivo X500 is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 9600M and features a 7,500mAh BlueVolt Battery. It comes with a 6.59-inch ZEISS Master Color Display, 90W FlashCharge and 40W Wireless FlashCharge. The phone also runs OriginOS 7, with Origin Workbench supporting up to five apps running in the foreground.
The X500 will be available in four colours: Starry Gray, Sunny White, Dawn Pink and Dusk Black.
Following its global launch, the vivo X500 Series is rumoured to arrive in Malaysia in October 2026. vivo Malaysia has yet to provide further details on the local launch date and pricing.
