MediaTek has officially announced the Dimensity 9600 Pro, its latest flagship smartphone chipset featuring a new 2nm process node. The company says the new SoC is designed to deliver improvements across performance, power efficiency, on-device AI, gaming, imaging, and computing.

According to MediaTek, the Dimensity 9600 Pro is built around a 2+3+3 All Big Core CPU configuration, comprising two C2-Ultra cores clocked at up to 4.55GHz, three C2-Pro big cores running at up to 4.35GHz, and another three C2-Pro big cores at up to 3.1GHz.
Compared with the previous generation, the chipset delivers up to 17% higher single-core performance and up to 15% higher multi-core performance, while reducing multi-core power consumption by up to 61%.

For AI, the Dimensity 9600 Pro comes with a dual-NPU architecture and MediaTek’s Agentic AI Engine. The chipset is designed to enable smartphones to process information, reason and respond more intelligently on-device, while keeping AI-related processing secure.
Its second-generation Super Efficient NPU is said to reduce power consumption for always-on AI by up to 40%. Meanwhile, the NPU 1090 delivers up to 51% higher LLM prefill performance and up to 55% higher token generation per watt. It also supports on-device AI models with up to 30 billion parameters.
The chipset also introduces an AI Computing Fusion Architecture, which combines CPU and NPU resources for AI workloads. This is supported by a 34.5MB cache, as well as LPDDR6 memory and UFS 5.0 storage. MediaTek’s upgraded Dimensity Scheduling Engine is designed to manage computing, power and memory resources to maintain responsive performance while multiple applications are running in the background.
For gaming, the Dimensity 9600 Pro integrates the G2-Ultra NX GPU, which offers up to 27% higher peak performance and up to 24% lower power consumption at peak performance. It also provides up to 18% faster ray tracing performance, with MediaTek claiming support for console-grade gaming at up to 185fps.
The new MediaTek Dimensity Neural Graphics Architecture combines GPU and AI computing, while MediaTek HyperEngine is designed to further optimise gameplay for smoother and more immersive high-resolution gaming.

On the imaging side, the Dimensity 9600 Pro features the Imagiq 1290 ISP alongside a new Dimensity AI Imaging Fusion Architecture. By combining ISP and NPU capabilities, the chipset supports computational photography and content creation features.
These include NPU-powered 60fps motion capture and 4K240 native direct-output ultra-slow-motion video. It also supports 4K60 AI True Color Tone, 4K120 cinematic log and 17EV imaging for photos and videos.
Alongside the Dimensity 9600 Pro, MediaTek has also announced the Dimensity 9600M. The upcoming chipset is designed to bring flagship-level performance and power efficiency to more devices, with the company’s latest Agentic AI Engine and Dimensity Scheduling Engine.
The Dimensity 9600M also features an NPU for on-device AI, including always-on perception and real-time AI-enhanced imaging, while its ISP supports professional-quality imaging and real-time tracking. For gaming, MediaTek HyperEngine enables gameplay of up to 185fps, while advanced connectivity technologies are designed to provide fast and reliable mobile experiences.
The first smartphones powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 9600 Pro and Dimensity 9600M are expected to launch in Q3 2026.
Performance figures were achieved through demo device testing in MediaTek’s laboratories.
