smart #1 Officially Launched in Malaysia

Last year, we reported that smart EVs to enter Malaysia under Proton. Guess what? smart Malaysia has finally announced the official pricing for its highly anticipated all-new electric vehicle, the smart #1.

The smart #1 is built on the Sustainable Experience Architecture (SEA) platform, which is the same platform as the Volvo EX30. The car comes in three variants — Pro, Premium, and Brabus. All variants are 4,270mm long (4,300mm for the Brabus variant), 1,822mm wide, and 1,636mm tall, together with a 2,750mm wheelbase.

The smart #1 Pro and Premium variants feature a single motor setup that delivers a maximum output of 272hp and 343Nm of torque. 0-100km/h will take the car 6.7 seconds to reach. The car comes with three different driving modes — Eco, Comfort, and Sport.

In terms of range, the Pro variant has a 49kWh LFP battery that can travel as far as 315km (WLTP), while the Premium variant has a 66kWh ternary (NCM) battery that can travel further up to 440km (WLTP).

Standard exterior equipment included with the smart #1 Pro:

The smart #1 Premium comes with these:

• Side view mirror-mounted courtesy light

smart #1 Brabus

The Brabus variant is almost the same as the Premium variant, but it comes with the Brabus aero kit and 19-inch dynamo alloy wheels for its exterior. The Brabus variant also features a dual-motor setup that pushes 428hp and 543Nm of torque to all four wheels. It gets the same drive modes with the addition of Brabus mode that actually simulates an Italian V6 engine sound.

The Brabus variant packs the same battery as the Premium variant, but it has a shorter range of 400km (WLTP) due to the more powerful dual-motor setup.

All variants come with a 9.2-inch digital instrument cluster, a 12.8-inch infotainment touchscreen head unit with Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support, rear air-con vents, and a panoramic halo roof with electric sunblind, among other features. There is also support for the Hello smart App that can be downloaded from the Apple App Store, Google Play Store, and Huawei App Gallery.
