First Look: Samsung Galaxy Z Fold5

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold5 First Look_4

Besides the Galaxy Z Flip5, we also managed to spend a short period of time with the Galaxy Z Fold5. This time around, Samsung didn’t tease anything about the Z Fold5, and it looks quite identical to its predecessor. Without further ado, here’s the first look at the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold5.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold5 Specs

The Galaxy Z Fold5 looks pretty much the same as its predecessor, it still has the same 6.2-inch HD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X display on the outside, Samsung even kept the same aspect ratio. There’s a reason why Samsung did that — the Z Fold5 is all about its 7.6-inch QXGA+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X main screen. If all you care is about the display on the outside, you might as well just get a normal phone. Just like the Z Flip5, the Z Fold5 also comes with an IPX8 rating, Armor Aluminum frame, and Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 applied to both the cover screen and back.

The Galaxy Z Fold5 is the thinnest and lightest Fold ever, measuring just 13.4mm thin and weighing only 253g. Thanks to the new Flex Hinge, which features a dual rail structure, diffusing external impacts, the Z Fold5 is able to fold flat without leaving any gap.

Once it’s unfolded, you’ll see the 7.6-inch QXGA+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X Infinity Flex Display with a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate. The main upgrade is it now hits a 1,750 nits peak brightness and 1,200 nits in HBM. It still has a 4MP Under Display Camera, which is the same as the Z Fold4.

Not only that, the rear cameras are also the same as the Z Fold4 — 12MP ultra-wide + 50MP main with OIS and Dual Pixel AF + 10MP telephoto with OIS. Samsung mentioned that the post-processing of images will be better, all thanks to the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor for Galaxy.

The Galaxy Z Fold5 now has an improved Taskbar that enables dynamic productivity by allowing users to switch between frequently used apps quickly. Newly enhanced two-handed drag and drop can also ramp up productivity when moving content between apps and screens. Simply touch and hold an image in Samsung Gallery with one finger and use another finger to open the Samsung Notes app to drag and drop the image.

Additionally, the new slimmer and more compact S Pen Fold Edition makes real-time annotating and ideation easy while being able to fit more comfortably in the pocket. The Slim S Pen Case is nearly the same thickness as a regular case for the Fold and is available in a variety of styles and colors so users can carry their S Pens in style.
