First Look: Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 FE

Samsung announced the Galaxy Tab S9 FE series last month, which comes in two sizes. Today we finally got the Galaxy Tab S9 FE, which sports a 10.9-inch display. Without further ado, let’s have a first look at the company’s latest FE tablet.

Unboxing

The Galaxy Tab S9 FE comes in a thin white box, which sort of reminds me of Samsung’s Galaxy A series. My review unit is the Mint variant, though it looks more like the light blue variant.

Open up the box, you’ll see the tablet, S Pen, ejector tool, USB-C cable, and some paperwork. As expected, the tablet doesn’t come with a charging brick, which means you’ll need to buy a new one, though I believe you might already have a charging brick with you.

First Look

The Galaxy Tab S9 FE sports a 10.9-inch Full HD+ IPS LCD with a 90Hz refresh rate. It also comes with Samsung’s Vision Booster for improved viewing in outdoor environments and dual speakers with Dolby Atmos. Just like the Tab S9 series, it is IP68-rated and comes bundled with an S Pen that is also water and dust-resistant.

The 12MP ultra-wide front camera is located on top of the display, if you hold the tablet in landscape mode. Since the tablet doesn’t have an OLED panel, it’s normal to have a power button that also serves as a fingerprint scanner.

The bottom of the tablet has a three-pin connector for you to connect the keyboard cover. However, the keyboard cover is sold separately, not included like the other Tab S9 series.

The back of the tablet houses an 8MP rear camera, and next to it is where you snap the S Pen magnetically to charge it. The Galaxy Tab S9 FE is also powered by an Exynos 1380 processor with 8GB RAM and up to 256GB UFS 3.1 storage, it is the same processor on the Galaxy A54.

The tablet runs on One UI 5.1.1 based on Android 13, and there’s a dock at the bottom that shows favorite and opened apps. You can hide and show it by using the gesture line (tap and hold).

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 FE is now available in Malaysia, pricing from RM2,099. From now until 30th November 2023, purchasing the tablet will get:
