Samsung Malaysia officially launched the Galaxy A55 a week ago, which succeeded the Galaxy A54. Here’s our first look at the latest Galaxy A series device without further ado.

Samsung Galaxy A55 5G Specs

The Samsung Galaxy A55 5G looks exactly like its predecessor, you still get thick bezels all around with the chin slightly thicker than the rest. However, the phone now has a larger 6.6-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate.

Surprisingly, Samsung removed the silver trim around the 32MP camera cutout, making the phone look more premium.

Samsung introduced the new Key Island design for the A55, all sides are flat except for a slightly raised curved frame for the power button and volume rocker.

The back of the Galaxy A55 looks similar to the Galaxy S24 series, which has a clean three-camera ring design that houses a 50MP f/1.8 main camera with OIS, a 12MP f/2.2 fixed-focus ultra-wide camera, and a 5MP f/2.4 macro camera.

In terms of performance, the phone is powered by an Exynos 1480 processor with 12GB RAM and 256GB internal storage, that’s the highest configuration in the series.

The Galaxy A55 runs on One UI 6.1 based on Android 14, Samsung also guarantees 4 years of major OS updates and 5 years of security patches. The phone comes with Samsung Knox Vault, which is a hardware-based secure execution environment that’s physically isolated from the processor and memory. It can help protect the most critical data on a device, including lock screen credentials, such as PIN codes, passwords, and patterns. It also protects device encryption keys, encrypting users’ private data stored in the device. Only users with the correct lock screen credentials can access their data, even if the device is lost or stolen.

Retailing at RM1,999, the Samsung Galaxy A55 5G is now available at Samsung Experience Stores, Samsung Authorized Retailers, and Samsung Online Store (Lazada | Shopee). Be sure to stay tuned for our full review as we are now in the middle of testing the phone.
