Design
Looking at the front of the OPPO Find X3 Pro, it actually reminded me of the OnePlus 7 Pro since it has curves on both sides of the screen. However, the Find X3 Pro has a 32MP hole-punch selfie camera on the top left corner of the screen. Not something that annoys me since I’ve already got used to the hole-punch camera.
It uses an optical in-display fingerprint sensor that works pretty fast and responsive. My only complaint is the location of the fingerprint sensor, which is quite below the screen, I would prefer it to be placed higher.
The back is where the magic happens! The Find X3 Pro has an impossible streamlined curved design by using just a single sheet of glass. Basically, it’s pretty much like OPPO treating a single sheet of glass as plastic and curved certain parts to blend the camera bump with the back. My review unit is the Blue variant, which has a frosted back and the back somewhat feels like a plastic back.
The power button is located on the right side, while the volume rocker is on the left side. At the bottom, it has a SIM tray, USB-C port, microphone, and speaker. The phone has dual stereo speakers, one doubles up as the earpiece and it’s as powerful as the bottom ones. Like many flagship phones, the OPPO Find X3 Pro doesn’t have a 3.5mm audio jack. Not to forget that the phone is also IP68 rated for water and dust resistance.
Display
The OPPO Find X3 Pro sports a 6.7-inch QHD+ OLED 120Hz display. It’s an LTPO panel that supports a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate for better battery life. The screen supports 10-bit color and is able to display more than 1 billion colors, that’s more than 16 million on most smartphones. As expected, the screen is also HDR10 and HDR10+ certified.
While most people don’t really care about the wide color gamut and something catchy like the Full-Path Color Management System, the Find X3 Pro has a top-class display. If you are using your phone to work or really notice things like this, you’ll definitely love the screen.
Performance
Powering the OPPO Find X3 Pro is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 processor with 12GB RAM and 256GB UFS 3.1 storage. Unfortunately, the phone doesn’t support expandable storage, just like many flagship phones nowadays. In terms of performance, the phone handles quite well in day-to-day usage. I notice there are some stutters and lags when playing certain games, most probably the games are not fully optimized. It’ll be fixed via future software updates.
Software
The OPPO Find X3 Pro runs on ColorOS 11.2 based on Android 11. I won’t be covering too much about the software since it’s basically the same as the OPPO Reno5, which you can check out the review here. Since it’s a high-end phone, OPPO has also added a few features exclusively available on the Find X3 Pro. OPPO has collaborated with Hans Zimmer, the legendary composer of The Lion King, Inception, and other iconic soundtracks, to compose a variety of tones from ringtone to alarm tone.
Another handy feature is AI Palettes, which lets you match your photo with the color tone you want from another photo. It’s a quick photo editing tool that lets you tune your photos in just a few seconds.
Camera
The OPPO Find X3 Pro packs a quad-camera setup on the back — 50MP Sony IMX766 main with OIS + 50MP Sony IMX766 ultra-wide + 13MP telephoto + 3MP microlens. Unlike its predecessor, OPPO has dumped the periscope telephoto camera and opted for a regular 2x telephoto lens that can do 5x hybrid zoom. It’s a downgrade for the telephoto camera, but the ultra-wide lens is the same sensor as the main camera, so you can expect the same image quality from the ultra-wide lens as the main.
The main, ultra-wide, and telephoto cameras all support 10-bit color capture. The phone will save photos in 10-bit HEIF format if you enabled this feature, which is currently incompatible with most devices. As for the 3MP microlens camera, it shoots microscope-like photos with an autofocus system working between 1mm and 3mm distances and optics that offer up to 60x magnification. There’s also a ring-LED flash as the phone will always cast shadow over the subjects from such close shooting distances.

Both 50MP cameras save 12.5MP photos by default, but you can switch to the 50MP mode if you want, though I don’t really see much improvement when shooting 50MP photos. Both main and ultra-wide cameras have consistent colors, and I even tried to shoot starry night photos with the ultra-wide lens, and the result was impressive!
Overall, the main and ultra-wide cameras shoot impressive photos. As for the telephoto camera, it may not up to your expectation but it tries its best to match the colors from the other two cameras. It’s still a decent telephoto camera, but when you tried out the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra, you’ll start to be picky.

Lastly, the 3MP microlens actually shoots impressive microscope-like images with a lot of detail and well-saturated color. It’s more useful than most macro cameras, but I don’t think many people will actually use it.
Battery Life
The OPPO Find X3 Pro packs a 4,500mAh battery that supports 65W SuperVOOC 2.0 flash charging and 30W AirVOOC wireless charging. Just like the Reno5, the charging speed is pretty fast. It’ll take around 30 minutes to charge the phone from dead to 100%. In terms of battery life, the phone was able to last through a day easily with around 6 hours of screen-on-time before its battery turns red.
Final Words
Retailing at RM4,299, no doubt the OPPO Find X3 Pro is a pretty good flagship phone! Personally, I really like the silicone case included in the box, and it also comes with a charging brick! It has great main and ultra-wide cameras that shoot amazing photos. Not many flagship phones have an ultra-wide camera that shoots the same impressive image quality as the main camera like the Find X3 Pro. If you are okay with ColorOS, you can just go right ahead and buy it!
