HUAWEI Mate Xs 2 Officially Launched in Malaysia

HUAWEI has officially announced its latest foldable flagship device — the HUAWEI Mate Xs 2, at its Flagship Product Launch 2022. The Mate Xs 2 is essentially the second foldable device that the company launched this year after the P50 Pocket.

Unlike the Mate X2, the Mate Xs 2 uses back the original folding solution we’ve seen before on the Mate X and Mate Xs. However, the device now features the new generation New Falcon Wing Design, which gives an ultra-flat form factor for a foldable smartphone. Through the industry’s first Double-rotating Falcon Wing Hinge, the hinge’s movement trajectory and the screen are precisely synchronized via the fixed-length linkage control, making the screen as flat as a mirror.

When folded, the Mate Xs 2 has a 6.5-inch (2,480 x 1,176 px) OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. When unfolded, the device becomes a 7.8-inch (2,480 x 2,200 px) tablet.

Powering the HUAWEI Mate Xs 2 is a 4G variant of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 processor with 8GB RAM and 512GB internal storage. The device is actually lighter than before at only 255g and HUAWEI also claimed that it is more resistant to drop compared to the 2020’s Mate Xs.

In terms of cameras, the Mate Xs 2 packs a triple-camera setup on the back — 50MP f/1.8 main + 13MP ultra-wide + 8MP telephoto. The phone also has a 10.7MP front camera for taking selfies.

The HUAWEI Mate Xs 2 packs a 4,600mAh battery that supports 66W HUAWEI SuperCharge. Retailing at RM7,999, the HUAWEI Mate Xs 2 will be available for pre-order from 3rd to 23rd June 2022.
