The company first unveiled the Mate Xs, which is the latest 5G foldable device. The Mate Xs is the successor of the Mate X, which isn’t available in Malaysia. When it is folded, it has a 6.6-inch main screen and a 6.38-inch secondary screen. When it’s unfolded, the smartphone becomes an 8-inch tablet. Its flexible display features an innovative two-layer polymer structure. Made with a zirconium-based liquid metal, the upgraded Falcon Wing hinge is much more durable, facilitating a satisfying full 180-degree fold.

Powering the device is the company’s latest Kirin 990 5G processor with 8GB RAM and 512GB expandable storage. In terms of camera, it sports a Leica quad-camera system — 40MP (Wide Angle Lens, f/1.8 aperture) + 16MP (Ultra Wide Angle Lens, f/2.2 aperture) + 8MP (Telephoto, f/2.4 aperture, OIS) + HUAWEI Time-of-Flight (TOF) Camera. If you want to take selfies, the rear camera also doubles as the front camera after the phone is folded.

The phone packs a total of 4,500mAh battery, which also supports 55W HUAWEI SuperCharge. It runs on EMUI 10.0.1 based on Android 10, but without GMS. It comes with the Multi-Window feature, which allows for two apps to be displayed side by side and interact with each other.

The HUAWEI Mate Xs will be available in Malaysia on 20th March 2020. Unfortunately, the local price is yet to be revealed, it costs €2,499, though, so expect it to be at least RM10k when it hits our shores. Stay tuned as we are currently working on the hands-on article.
