HONOR Claims One-Third of Malaysia’s Foldable Smartphone Market

HONOR One-Third Foldable Claim

Malaysia’s foldable smartphone market continues to expand, and HONOR says it has strengthened its position as one of the country’s leading brands in the segment. According to the company’s internal consumer data, one in three foldable smartphones sold in Malaysia is an HONOR device, reflecting growing interest among consumers seeking alternatives in the premium foldable space.

HONOR also revealed that many users are switching from other flagship smartphone brands, with buyers citing value for money, durability, battery life, innovative foldable technology, and the company’s after-sales protection as the main reasons for their decision.

The announcement comes as competition in the foldable market intensifies. The company believes flagship foldable technology doesn’t necessarily have to come with the highest price tag, pointing to the Magic V6 as a device that balances premium features with competitive pricing.

One of the Magic V6’s standout features is its durability. It is equipped with HONOR’s Super Steel Hinge, rated at 2,800MPa tensile strength, and is designed to withstand heavy daily use. The foldable also carries both IP68 and IP69 ratings for water and dust resistance, while its outer display is protected by the HONOR Anti-Scratch NanoCrystal Shield to improve scratch and drop resistance.

Battery life is another area where HONOR aims to differentiate itself. The Magic V6 packs a 6,660mAh silicon-carbon battery, which the company says is the largest battery currently available in a foldable smartphone. Charging is supported via 80W wired HONOR SuperCharge and 66W wireless charging, allowing users to spend less time plugged in.

Photography is handled by a 64MP telephoto camera with CIPA 6.5 image stabilisation, designed to deliver detailed zoom shots while maintaining image quality in various lighting conditions.

For multimedia consumption, the Magic V6 features a cover display capable of reaching up to 6,000 nits of peak brightness, while the inner foldable display reaches up to 5,000 nits. Both screens also support 4,320Hz risk-free PWM dimming to help reduce eye strain during extended viewing sessions. HONOR adds that its anti-reflective coating lowers screen glare to as little as 1.5%, making outdoor viewing more comfortable.

On the productivity front, the Magic V6 includes HONOR’s Fast Flex and PC-level Multi-Flex software, enabling users to run multiple apps simultaneously through enhanced multitasking features. HONOR Share has also been expanded to improve cross-platform compatibility, allowing easier file transfers and synchronisation with iPhone and Mac devices.

As foldable smartphones become increasingly mainstream, HONOR’s latest market figures suggest the brand is continuing to gain traction in Malaysia by combining flagship hardware, productivity features and comprehensive after-sales support in a more accessible package.
