HONOR Magic9 Pro Max Is Coming to Malaysia as Official Cinematic Imaging Smartphone of FFM35
HONOR is bringing its cinematic imaging capabilities to the Malaysian film industry, with the HONOR Magic9 Pro Max set to arrive in Malaysia soon. The company has announced a collaboration with the National Film Development Corporation Malaysia (FINAS), naming the upcoming flagship as the Official Cinematic Imaging Smartphone Partner of the 35th Malaysia Film Festival (FFM35).
The FFM35 awards ceremony is scheduled to take place at Istana Budaya on 21 November 2026. The partnership marks a new chapter for HONOR as it looks to strengthen its presence in Malaysia’s creative and filmmaking industry.
The HONOR Magic9 Pro Max features an imaging system co-engineered with ARRI, a renowned cinematography company whose camera technology has been used in Hollywood productions. This collaboration aims to bring professional cinematic imaging capabilities to smartphone users.
With FINAS recognising the device as the official cinematic imaging smartphone of FFM35, HONOR is combining global cinematography expertise with local recognition from Malaysia’s national film agency.
The collaboration highlights HONOR’s ambition to make cinematic storytelling more accessible, allowing creators to capture footage with realistic colours, cinematic tones and professional-looking results using a smartphone.
The HONOR Magic9 Pro Max also marks the 10th anniversary of HONOR’s flagship Magic smartphone series. The company describes the device as its biggest upgrade to date, with significant improvements in imaging, design and overall performance.
Its ARRI co-engineered camera system is expected to be one of its key highlights, focusing on accurate colours and skin tones, cinematic video output and improved motion capture. The device is also designed to maintain clarity and stability when recording fast-moving subjects.
In terms of design, HONOR is introducing a refreshed appearance for the Magic9 Pro Max. Moving away from the circular camera module found on previous generations, the new flagship adopts a different design direction to establish a new identity for the Magic series.
The smartphone is also expected to feature flagship-level performance and a long-lasting battery, building on the strengths of the HONOR Magic9 Series in China. More details about its specifications and features will be revealed during its Malaysian launch.
Through its collaboration with ARRI, HONOR aims to make professional cinematography techniques more accessible to everyday smartphone users. This includes aspiring filmmakers, students and content creators who want to produce cinematic videos without relying on professional camera equipment.
HONOR’s vision is to empower users to tell their own stories through mobile imaging, with the company highlighting the idea that everyone can be the director of their own life.
The HONOR Magic9 Pro Max has also demonstrated its imaging capabilities at Sepang International Circuit during recent motorsport events. Photos and videos captured using the smartphone have attracted attention online, showcasing its ability to capture high-speed action while preserving the atmosphere and emotion of the moment.
HONOR believes these capabilities will also make the device suitable for capturing cinematic moments at events such as FFM35.
Beyond FFM35, HONOR and FINAS are looking to establish a long-term collaboration that will contribute to Malaysia’s creative and filmmaking industry.
The partnership is expected to extend beyond the awards ceremony, with further initiatives and developments set to be announced in the coming months.
