ASUS had released several new laptops mainly for the Zenbook and Vivobook lineup at the Pinnacle of Performance Global Launch Event. There are a handful of laptops to talk about here, let’s get things started!
First up, let me talk about the new releases for the Zenbook lineup, most notably both the Zenbook Pro 16X OLED and 14 Duo OLED. The Zenbook Pro 16X OLED is a flagship device designed to provide the best performance for on-the-go creative work. The laptop features a compact form factor weighing 2.4kg, thanks to the unibody chassis made from CNC aluminum alloy.
The laptop can be spec-ed with up to a 12th Gen Intel Core i9 12900H processor and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 Laptop GPU. Besides that, the Zenbook uses its latest IceCool Pro cooling system to keep itself cooled effectively. The system also includes specially designed IceBlade fans and a vapor chamber to achieve the lowest temperature possible. Some of the hot air is also vented through its exterior, with the AAS Ultra hinge design, by tilting the keyboard upwards ever so slightly which also provides some ergonomics for the user as well. As for the display, the laptop features a 16:10 16-inch 4K OLED display with HDR and touchscreen support.
One could say that the Zenbook Pro 14 Duo OLED is a smaller Zenbook Pro 16X, well they are not completely wrong. The 14 Duo can be powered with up to the latest 12th Gen i9 12900H processor and an NVIDIA RTX 3050 Ti laptop GPU. Like the 16X, the laptop also features the AAS Ultra Hinge design and the IceCool Pro cooling system for the best cooling efficiency possible. The display of the 14 Duo is a 16:10 14-inch OLED display with HDR and touch support.
Let’s shift the spotlight to the new Vivobooks that were released during that event, there are new models for the Vivobook Pro and the Vivobook S series. The Vivobook Pro is an affordable, high-performance series for amateur or casual creators, one could say that this is a “budget version” of the Zenbooks ASUS have on sale. The models that were shown during the event were the Vivobook Pro 16X OLED, the 15X OLED, the 14X OLED, the 16 OLED, and the 15 OLED.
These laptops can be powered up to a 12th Gen Intel Core i9 12900H processor or an AMD Ryzen 9 6800HX processor, paired with up to 32GB of RAM and an NVIDIA RTX 3070Ti mobile GPU. Each of the Vivobooks with the ‘OLED’ designation will feature a high-res 120Hz OLED display or opt for a 4K 60Hz NanoEdge 600-nit display. All the displays on the Vivobook Pros are Pantone certified and support HDR. These laptops also offer more I/O ports for easier accessibility, which could be achieved due to the form factor being slightly thicker compared to the Zenbook counterparts.
The Vivobook S series on the other hand are a range of slim and light laptops with up-to-par performances and specs. This series of laptops also offer a more ‘premium feel’ compared to the normal series. The models that were shown at the event include the S 14X OLED, the 16X OLED, the 14 OLED, and the 15 OLED.
As for the chassis’ construction, the difference between the S 14/15 and the S 14X/16X models is mainly the material used. The S 14/15 only has a metal lid and a plastic body, whereas the 14X/16X features all-metal construction.
All the Vivobooks could be optioned with up to a 12th Gen Intel i7 12700H or an AMD Ryzen 9 6900HX processor, paired with up to 16GB of DDR4 RAM and an ultrafast 1TB PCIe SSD. As for the displays, the Vivobooks feature OLED NanoEdge displays with resolutions up to 4K or a 2.8K 120Hz OLED panel. Furthermore, these laptops feature Thunderbolt 4 USB-C and USB 4 ports that support fast charging and up to 40 Gbps data transfers, and an HDMI 2.1 port that supports up to two 4K 120Hz or one 8K 60Hz display.
