Apple has officially unveiled the HomePod mini 2 alongside the new Apple HomeView, upgraded Apple TV 4K and Apple Home Collection. The updated smart speaker introduces AI-powered Siri features, a new Sound Glow visual effect, support for pairing up to four speakers and five colour options.
Powered by Apple’s S10 chip, the HomePod mini 2 brings new Siri AI capabilities designed to deliver a more personalised experience. However, users will need to pair the smart speaker with an Apple Intelligence-enabled iPhone or iPad to access these features.
With the upcoming Siri AI update, the HomePod mini 2 will be able to recognise up to six users by their voices and provide personalised messages. Apple says these capabilities will not be available at launch and will be introduced through a future software update.
Another new addition is Sound Glow, a feature that turns the top surface of the HomePod mini 2 into a digital canvas. When playing music, the surface will glow and display animated lighting effects inspired by the colours of the song’s album artwork, adding a visual element to the listening experience.
The HomePod mini 2 also supports pairing up to four speakers to create a four-speaker surround sound setup when used with the new Apple TV 4K. Beyond music playback, the smart speaker can function as a home hub, allowing users to control compatible smart home devices.
In Malaysia, the Apple HomePod mini 2 is priced at RM649, making it RM120 more expensive than the original HomePod mini, which was previously sold for RM529.
Pre-orders will open in Malaysia at 9:00am on 15 October 2026, with official availability beginning on 30 October 2026. The smart speaker will be offered in five colours: Pink, Green, Blue, White and Midnight.
The Apple HomePod mini 2 will be available through the Apple Store online and the Apple Store app.
