Sony Xperia XZs and Xperia XA1 Officially Launched in Malaysia

Announced last month at MWC 2017, Sony Mobile Malaysia today officially launched the Xperia XZs and Xperia XA1. Yes, it’s pretty fast considering that Sony Mobile Malaysia doesn’t often launch a device just a month after the official announcement.

The Xperia XZs is the refreshed version of the XZ, which we reviewed last year. It has almost the same specs as the original XZ with RAM bumped up to 4GB (from 3GB) and the new 19MP Motion Eye camera tech capable of recording 960fps slow-mo video.

The rest of the specs are pretty much the same — 5.2-inch Full HD display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor 64GB expandable storage, IP65/68 water and dust resistant, 13MP front camera, and a 2,900mAh battery with Qnovo Adaptive Charging.

As for the Xperia XA1, it is a mid-range device packing a 5-inch 720p HD display with the borderless design. The device is powered by a MediaTek Helio P20 processor with 3GB RAM and 32GB expandable storage. The rest of the specs are a 23MP f/2.0 rear camera, an 8MP front-facing shooter, a 2,300mAh battery, and Android Nougat out of the box.

Both Xperia XZs and Xperia XA1 will be available for pre-order from 29 March to 9 April at selected Sony Stores, Sony Centres, authorized dealers, and 11street. The Xperia XZs is priced at RM2,899 and those who pre-order the device will get the SBH80 Stereo Bluetooth Headset, a UCH12W Quick Charger, a silicon case, and tempered glass screen protector. As for the Xperia XA1, the device is priced at RM1,199 and early pre-orders will get a DK60 Charging Dock, a silicon case, and glass screen protector.

Color options wise, the Xperia XZs will be available in Ice Blue, Warm Silver and Black while the Xperia XA1 will come in a choice of contemporary finishes; White, Black, Pink and Gold.
