Xiaomi has officially introduced the new REDMI Pad 2 9.7 Series in Malaysia, expanding its tablet lineup with two new compact entertainment-focused devices — the REDMI Pad 2 9.7 and the REDMI Pad 2 9.7 4G.
Designed as a more portable version of the existing REDMI Pad 2 Series, the new 9.7-inch models bring several meaningful upgrades over the previous generation, including a larger display, a higher-capacity battery, improved performance, and a slimmer design. The result is a tablet built for users who want immersive entertainment while staying light and portable for everyday use.
In terms of design, the REDMI Pad 2 9.7 Series keeps things sleek and modern with a slim 7.4mm profile. Buyers can choose between Graphite Gray and Silver color options.
The REDMI Pad 2 9.7 4G variant features a more distinctive design with an end-to-end strip extending around the waterdrop-style rear camera and across the metallic body, giving it a more premium visual identity. Meanwhile, the standard REDMI Pad 2 9.7 adopts a full metal unibody design for a cleaner and more classic look.
Both models are also built with durability in mind, having passed over 40 rigorous durability tests.
The REDMI Pad 2 9.7 Series features a large 9.7-inch display with 2K resolution, delivering sharper visuals and better detail whether users are watching videos, browsing content, or gaming. Combined with a wide color gamut, the screen is capable of producing vibrant and true-to-life colors for a more immersive viewing experience.
For long viewing sessions, Xiaomi has also included triple TÜV Rheinland eye-care certifications to reduce eye strain. Outdoor usability is improved as well, thanks to up to 600 nits brightness in Outdoor Mode, making the display easier to view even under bright sunlight. Scrolling and animations also feel noticeably smoother with support for up to a 120Hz refresh rate.
Under the hood, the REDMI Pad 2 9.7 Series runs on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 6s 4G Gen 2 Mobile Platform. Built on a 6nm process, this octa-core chipset delivers up to 34% better performance compared to the previous generation, with clock speeds reaching up to 2.9GHz. Xiaomi also highlights improved thermal management, helping the device stay cooler during longer sessions of gaming or entertainment.
The chipset also reportedly achieves an AnTuTu benchmark score of over 400,000, giving users solid everyday performance across multitasking, media consumption, and casual gaming.
The new tablets also ship with Xiaomi HyperOS 3 out of the box. This brings a refreshed user interface, including a redesigned lock screen and updated wallpapers for more customization options. Users with Xiaomi smartphones can also benefit from Xiaomi Interconnectivity features such as Shared Clipboard, making it easier to copy and paste content between devices.
Additionally, Circle to Search by Google is supported, allowing users to search for content directly from images and on-screen elements more conveniently.
Both models are equipped with a large 7,600mAh battery, which Xiaomi claims can deliver up to 1.7 days of usage on a single charge. This makes the tablets ideal for binge-watching, long browsing sessions, and productivity on the go without constantly reaching for a charger.
The REDMI Pad 2 9.7 Series is now officially available in Malaysia in Graphite Gray and Silver, offered in two storage variants. Starting today, consumers can purchase both the REDMI Pad 2 9.7 and REDMI Pad 2 9.7 4G at Xiaomi stores nationwide, via mi.com, as well as through official Xiaomi stores on Lazada, Shopee, and TikTok Shop.
