It was a busy day in the tech industry as Xiaomi had unveiled two new products — Mi MIX 2S and Mi Gaming Laptop. The Mi MIX 2S is the refreshed version of the Mi MIX 2, while the Mi Gaming Laptop is the company’s first ever gaming laptop.
Mi MIX 2S
In terms of design, the Mi MIX 2S looks quite a lot like the Mi MIX 2. Unlike other new phones, the phone still doesn’t have a notch on top of the display, which is a good thing. The 5MP front-facing camera is still below the screen, though. The phone sports a 5.99-inch Full HD+ IPS 18:9 display.
The back of the phone now has a slightly different design, but it reminds me of the iPhone X. The phone now packs a dual-camera setup on the back — 12MP wide-angle + 12MP telephoto. The regular 12MP camera comes with OIS and f/1.8 aperture, while the secondary telephoto camera us uses f/2.4 lens. The Mi MIX 2S’ camera also has the Dual Pixel technology for quick and accurate autofocus. Additionally, the phone also features AI component, which will provide a better portrait mode and beautifying functions.
Powering the device is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor with up to 8GB RAM and 256GB storage. The phone runs on MIUI 9.5 on top of Android Oreo. The Mi MIX 2S now also supports Qi wireless charging to charge up the 3,400mAh battery. The phone will available in black and white colors.
Mi Gaming Laptop
The Mi Gaming Laptop is the company’s first ever gaming laptop, weighing at just 2.7kg. The laptop sports a 15.6-inch Full HD display with 72% NTSC. Powering the laptop is either the 7th Gen Intel i5-7300HQ or i7-7700HQ processor with up to 16GB RAM. In terms of graphics, it will be either NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti or GTX 1060 GPU. Storage wise, the laptop comes with up to 256GB SSD + 1TB HDD configuration.
Furthermore, the laptop also comes with the RGB keyboard (with four customizable zones) and 5 programmable macro keys. The company claims that the laptop will be the coolest high-performance laptop on the market.
The base model of the Mi Gaming Laptop with Intel i5/GTX 1050 Ti + 8GB RAM will cost you ¥5,999 (around RM3,700), while the highest configuration model will cost you ¥8,999 (around RM5,545). Pretty affordable, huh?
