The Xiaomi Mi 8 was announced a couple months ago. After waiting over and over again, the company today has announced the availability of the device in Malaysia.

The Mi 8 will be available in two versions: 6GB RAM + 64GB storage for RM1,599 (Available on August 16th via Lazada and Shopee) and 6GB RAM + 128GB storage for RM1,899 (Available on August 18th via Authorized Mi Stores, Lazada, and Shopee). Both versions will be available in Black, Blue, and White colors. However, the White color variant will only be available in September.
With that price point, the Xiaomi Mi 8 has replaced the ASUS ZenFone 5Z to become the most affordable Snapdragon 845 powered smartphone.
Additionally, the company has also announced the availability of the Mi Robot Vacuum. Retailing at just RM1,099, the Mi Robot Vacuum is now available via Authorized Mi Stores, Lazada, and Shopee. It comes with features such as:
- A Laser Distance Sensor (LDS) that scans the surroundings at 360 degrees up to 1,800 times per second, coupled with 11 other sensors, for exceptional navigational abilities
- Simultaneous Localization and Mapping (SLAM) algorithm, along with three processors, for mapping the surrounding layout and calculating the best cleaning path
- Nidec brushless motor with an ultra-strong suction force of 1800Pa (several times higher than ordinary motors) to suck up particles and debris effortlessly
- Wall sensor and speed-adjustable side brush to minimize the chances of pushing debris around or leaving them behind
- A large high-density 5,200mAh battery to allow sweeping of up to 2.5 hours and a cleaning area of up to 250m² on one single charge, as well as a “resume” function to avoid redundant work
