Xiaomi Announces Mi MIX FOLD with Foldable Screen

After Samsung and HUAWEI, Xiaomi is the latest manufacturer to join the foldable smartphone game. The company has just unveiled the Mi MIX FOLD, which comes with a large 8.01” WQHD+ resolution flexible internal display and a 6.52” external display.

The Mi MIX FOLD has a U-shaped hinge design, quite similar to the one on the Galaxy Z Fold2. It has a 6.5-inch AMOLED 90Hz external display with a 27:9 aspect ratio. As for the internal display, it has an 8.01-inch 4:3 WQHD+ OLED display with only a 60Hz refresh rate. Powering the foldable device is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 processor with up to 16GB RAM and 512GB storage.

The device debuts the Surge C1 processor — a professional image processing chip developed by Xiaomi. It has an improved 3A algorithm and low-light focus capabilities for more accurate auto focus, auto exposure, and auto white balance, significantly improving image quality. Additionally, the Mi MIX FOLD is also the world’s first smartphone with Liquid Lens technology. It works just like the lens in the human eye, which can change its shape thanks to a precision motor.

It comes with a 108MP main camera + 13MP ultra-wide camera + 8MP telephoto camera + 8MP macro camera. As for taking selfies, it has a 20MP front-facing camera.

The device also comes with quad speakers, sound by Harman Kardon. It is the industry’s first smartphone to adopt true panoramic surround sound. It has a 5,020mAh battery that supports 67W fast charging, allowing the phone full charge in just 37 minutes.

Available in Standard Edition and Ceramic Special Edition, the Mi MIX FOLD will be priced at RMB9,999 or 12GB+256GB, RMB10,999 for 12GB+512GB, and RMB12,999 for the 16GB+512GB version. At the moment, it is still unknown that whether we will get to see this foldable phone in Malaysia.
