Xiaomi has officially unveiled the new Xiaomi 17T Series in Malaysia, introducing the 17T and 17T Pro with several major upgrades focused on photography, battery life, and display technology. For the first time in the T Series lineup, Xiaomi is also offering two different form factors, giving users the option between a more compact device and a larger flagship experience.
A major highlight this year is the addition of Leica-powered 5x telephoto cameras across both models, alongside a new feature called Leica Live Moment that aims to capture motion and emotion beyond traditional still photography.
Leica 5x Telephoto Camera Comes to Both Models
The Xiaomi 17T Series features a triple-camera setup led by a 50MP primary sensor. The Xiaomi 17T Pro uses a larger 1/1.31-inch sensor, while the standard Xiaomi 17T gets a 1/1.55-inch sensor. Both devices also use Leica Summilux optics with a 1G + 6P lens structure designed to improve clarity, dynamic range, and low-light performance.
For the first time, both T Series models now include a Leica 5x telephoto camera with OIS. Xiaomi says the telephoto system supports everything from 30cm macro photography to 10x optical-grade zoom and up to 120x AI Ultra Zoom.
The Xiaomi 17T Pro also introduces 4K 60fps cinematic recording with natural background blur effects. Xiaomi is additionally bringing back Stage mode for concerts and challenging lighting environments.
Another new feature is Leica Live Moment, which captures short motion sequences to preserve movement and emotion before and after the shutter is pressed. The feature works across all rear camera focal lengths and includes Leica-style watermarks as well as collage support for social media sharing.
Meanwhile, Leica Live Portrait adds motion blur and natural-looking background separation for portrait photography.
New Xiaomi Vision Care Display Technology
The Xiaomi 17T Series also introduces Xiaomi Vision Care, a new display system focused on eye comfort. Xiaomi says the technology automatically adjusts to ambient lighting conditions while managing blue light, flicker, and motion blur to reduce eye strain during extended use.
Both devices feature a 1.5K AMOLED display with up to 3,500 nits peak brightness. The Xiaomi 17T Pro further improves low-light viewing with hardware-level 1-nit minimum brightness support.
Refresh rates differ between the two models, with the Xiaomi 17T Pro supporting up to 144Hz while the standard Xiaomi 17T offers up to 120Hz.
The Xiaomi 17T Pro also adopts Xiaomi’s LIPO packaging technology, allowing it to achieve ultra-slim symmetrical bezels measuring just 1.29mm on all four sides.
Bigger Batteries with Silicon-Carbon Technology
Battery capacity sees a significant jump this generation, thanks to new silicon-carbon battery technology.
The 17T Pro packs a massive 7,000mAh battery, which Xiaomi claims is the largest ever used in an international Xiaomi smartphone. It supports 100W wired HyperCharge and 50W wireless HyperCharge.
Meanwhile, the 17T comes with a 6,500mAh battery paired with 67W HyperCharge support.
Powering the devices are MediaTek’s latest chipsets, with the 17T Pro running on the 3nm Dimensity 9500, while the 17T uses the Dimensity 8500-Ultra built on a 4nm process.
To keep temperatures under control, both devices feature Xiaomi’s upgraded 3D IceLoop cooling system for improved sustained performance during gaming and heavy workloads.
