Yup, only the first and second USB-C ports are able to output a maximum of 100W power, but you also need a cable that carries 100W power. If you don’t know which cable to get, just purchase the GaN charger that bundles with the cable.
My review unit is the UK type and it’s a pretty heavy charger I must say, but I wouldn’t mind since I can charge my laptop, my phone, and tablet using just one charger.
Speaking of charging, there aren’t many devices that support 100W charging at the moment, even the new MacBook Pro only supports 90W for USB-C charging. I did try to charge the ASUS ZenBook Flip 13 OLED with 65W power output, which is pretty normal since the laptop is only able to receive 65W power.
The good thing is I get to charge multiple devices at once — my laptop at 65W, my iPhone 11 Pro at 18W, and my Samsung Galaxy Z Flip3 at 15W, which leaves me another 2W to spare. If you fully utilize all four ports, you’ll probably end up slow charging all devices, but that’s not a big deal.
In conclusion, I like the fact that I can charge all my devices using just one charger, which really comes in handy especially for traveling. The UGREEN 100W GaN Charger is the perfect all-in-one charger that you can use for a long time since there are more laptops and phones that now support USB-PD charging.
