Announced last month, the Sony α7 III has made its official debut in Malaysia. It comes with a newly developed full-frame 24.2MP black-Illuminated Exmor R CMOS Image Sensor with Evolved Image Processing. Additionally, its Wide ISO range from 100 to 51200 ( Expandable to ISO 50 – 204800) allows the user to take photos in a really low-light environment. The Auto Focus system will feature a 693 phase detection AF points that cover 93% of the imaging area, 425 contrast AF points, and fast reliable eye autofocus to allow the photographer to accurately follow the eye of the model.
Besides, it will allow the users to take continuous shots up to 10 fps with either the Silent Shooting or Mechanical Shutter and Full Focus / Auto Exposure tracking. The camera also comes with Eye AF feature even in AF-C mode, which is very useful for situations such as the model turning around, looking downwards, or obstructed. An additional improvement to the α7 III is the focusing flexibility, the multi-selector or “joystick” that allows you to move the focus point quickly.
On the other hand, the new α7 III is equipped with an updated image processing system that allows it to shoot full resolution image up to 10 fps (frame per second). An accurate AF/AE tracking up to 177 standard JPEG images, 89 compressed RAW images or 40 uncompressed RAW images. The high-speed mode is available with either a mechanical shutter or a completely silent shooting. Furthermore, the α7 III comes with Anti-flicker system that allows the camera itself to adjust accordingly to lighting and timing in a fluorescent or artificial light environment.
At the same time, the new α7 III is also an amazing video camera as well. It will take up to 4K (3840 x 2160) video with full pixel readout and no pixel binning across full-width of full frame sensory. In the video mode, the camera uses full pixel readout without pixel binning to collect about 2.4x the amount of data required for 4K movies and then oversamples it to produce high-quality 4K footage with exceptional detail and depth.
The α7 III comes with two SD card slots with support in one slot for UHS-II type SD card memory cards. Users have the variety of choosing which content to store on which card. The α7 III features high resolution, high contrast, fast start XGA OLED Tru-Finder with approximately 2.3 million dots for extremely accurate, true to life detail reproduction. “Standard” or “High” display quality settings are also available for both viewfinder and monitor as well. It also offers a SuperSpeed USB (USB 3.1 Gen 1) USB Type-C and transferring file through Wi-Fi. Lastly, the α7 III is compatible with different Sony E-mount accessories including the BC-QZ1 battery charger and the VG-C3EM Vertical grip.
The Sony α7 III will be available in Malaysia this month onwards with a retail price of RM8,999 for the body only.
