Samsung has officially introduced its latest mid-range smartphones, the Galaxy A57 5G and Galaxy A37 5G, bringing meaningful upgrades while retaining the familiar formula seen in their predecessors. Both devices now offer improved durability, enhanced performance, and a smarter set of AI-powered features, making them more competitive in the increasingly crowded mid-range segment.
The Samsung Galaxy A57 5G stands out as the more premium option between the two. It is powered by the new Exynos 1680 chipset, built on a 4nm process and equipped with the upgraded Xclipse 550 GPU. Samsung also highlights a more capable NPU delivering up to 19.6 TOPS of AI performance, a noticeable jump from the previous generation. To maintain sustained performance, the device features a 13% larger vapor chamber, which should help keep thermals in check during gaming and heavy multitasking.
In terms of design, the Galaxy A57 5G adopts a slimmer and more refined build, featuring a metal frame that measures just 6.9mm thick and weighs 179g. This makes it noticeably thinner and lighter than its predecessor. Durability has also been improved, as the device now carries an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance, matching flagship-level protection.
Meanwhile, the Samsung Galaxy A37 5G remains the more affordable option and sticks to a plastic build, measuring 7.4mm thick and weighing 196g. Despite that, it still benefits from improved durability, now also featuring an IP68 rating — an upgrade from the IP67 rating seen on last year’s models.
Under the hood, the Galaxy A37 5G is powered by the Exynos 1480 chipset, which previously debuted on the Galaxy A55 5G. While not as powerful as the A57’s newer silicon, it still delivers reliable performance for everyday use. The device is available in multiple memory configurations, including 6GB or 8GB RAM with up to 256GB of storage, giving users some flexibility depending on their needs.
Both smartphones feature identical display specifications, sporting a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED panel with Full HD+ resolution and a smooth 120Hz refresh rate. While Samsung did not explicitly confirm the glass protection, it is widely expected to be Gorilla Glass Victus+, offering solid resistance against scratches and minor drops.
On the camera front, the Galaxy A57 5G and Galaxy A37 5G share a similar hardware setup, led by a 50MP main camera with an f/1.8 aperture. Samsung has also enhanced its Nightography capabilities, improving low-light photography and video recording across both devices. Up front, users will find a 12MP selfie camera, which should deliver consistent results for video calls and social media content.
Where the Galaxy A57 5G pulls ahead is in its software-driven camera features. Thanks to its more powerful chipset, it supports enhanced AI tools such as Best Face, which can process more frames for better group shots, and Auto Trim, which simplifies video editing. The Object Eraser has also been refined for more natural edits, while a new Voice Transcription feature adds extra convenience for productivity use.
Both devices run on One UI 8.5 based on Android 16 out of the box. Samsung is also promising up to six years of software support, including major OS updates and security patches, which is a significant advantage in this segment and ensures long-term usability.
The Samsung Galaxy A57 5G will be available in Awesome Navy, Awesome Gray, and Awesome Icyblue, while the Galaxy A37 5G comes in Awesome Lavender, Awesome Charcoal, and Awesome Graygreen.
Both models will be available in Malaysia starting 25 March through Samsung Experience Stores, the Samsung Online Store, authorized retailers, and official Samsung stores on Lazada and Shopee, alongside various launch promotions.
