Samsung has officially announced the Galaxy SmartTag3, its latest compact tracker designed to help users keep track of everyday belongings and pets. The new tracker features a smaller and lighter design, longer-range finding capabilities, cross-OS support and expanded alerts.

Compared to the previous generation, the Galaxy SmartTag3 is approximately 35% smaller by volume and 33% lighter, making it easier to attach to items such as keys, smaller bags, luggage and pet collars. It features a rounded design with an aluminium-decorated button, while new accessories including a Silicone Case with a keyring and Loop Case provide additional attachment options.
For the first time in the Galaxy SmartTag series, the SmartTag3 supports both Galaxy and iOS devices. Through SmartThings Find, users can check and share the tag’s location and use Search Nearby across supported devices, making it easier for family members or friends using different platforms to help locate a tagged item.
The Galaxy SmartTag3 also offers up to 550 days of battery life under standard usage, increasing to up to 790 days when using Power Saving Mode.

Samsung has improved the finding experience with an expanded Compass View range. With Bluetooth 6.0 Channel Sounding, supported devices can provide distance and directional guidance from up to 60 metres away under line-of-sight conditions, which Samsung says is around three times farther than the previous generation. As users move closer to the tagged item, ultra-wideband (UWB) provides more precise guidance for finding it.
When the SmartTag3 is outside the direct connection range of a user’s smartphone, the Galaxy Find Network can help continue the search. Samsung says more than 900 million participating Galaxy devices worldwide can act as finding nodes, detecting the SmartTag3 and updating its location. Faster Galaxy Find Network updates are also designed to provide new location information sooner after a tag becomes disconnected.
Beyond helping users locate missing items, the Galaxy SmartTag3 introduces new proactive features. Place Notification allows users to define an area and receive an alert when a tagged item moves into or out of it. This could be used to receive an alert when a pet leaves the garden or when a bicycle moves away from its usual parking area.
The SmartTag3 also includes Location History, which lets users review where their tag has been, as well as Movement Detection Alert, which can notify users when movement is detected without requiring them to manually check the tag’s location.
Other features include NFC-powered Lost Mode, which can display pre-registered contact information or a short message when the lost tag is scanned with a compatible device. The tag’s button can also be used with SmartThings IoT Control to trigger preset routines for compatible connected devices, while Left Behind Alert can notify users when their mobile device loses connection with a tagged belonging.

The Galaxy SmartTag3 retains an IP67 rating for water and dust resistance, while location data is encrypted to help protect user privacy.
The Samsung Galaxy SmartTag3 will be available in South Korea from 7 October 2026, followed by the US, with additional markets to follow in 2027. It will be offered in White and Black. Samsung says there is currently no release date for Malaysia.
