Samsung recently unveiled its latest smartphone lineup, the Galaxy S24 series, comprising three models: the S24 Ultra, S24+, and S24. The Galaxy Unpacked event highlighted the significant integration of Galaxy AI within the S24 series. Fortunately, I had the opportunity to explore and test the features of the Galaxy S24 series before its official launch. Without delay, here is my initial impression of the Galaxy S24 series, along with a closer look at the innovative Galaxy AI.
Galaxy S24 Ultra
The Galaxy S24 Ultra boasts an entirely fresh design, introducing a flat display on the front. The screen, measuring 6.8 inches, maintains its QHD+ (3,120×1,440) resolution and utilizes Dynamic AMOLED 2X technology with a variable refresh rate ranging from 1Hz to 120Hz. Notably, the revamped flat screen now achieves a remarkable peak brightness of 2,600 nits, establishing it as the brightest Galaxy smartphone to date.
Under the hood, the Galaxy S24 Ultra operates on the robust Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor tailored specifically for the Galaxy series. This processor is an overclocked variant of the standard Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. The device offers versatile storage options with UFS 4.0 technology, including 256GB, 512GB, and a substantial 1TB. Regardless of the storage choice, all configurations are equipped with a generous 12GB of RAM, ensuring smooth and efficient performance.
The Galaxy S24 Ultra maintains its impressive quad-camera system but introduces some noteworthy changes. The setup now comprises a 12MP ultra-wide lens, a substantial 200MP main camera with optical image stabilization (OIS), a 10MP 3x telephoto lens with OIS, and a new 50MP 5x telephoto lens, also featuring OIS. Notably, the previous 10MP 10x telephoto lens has been replaced by the 50MP 5x telephoto lens. Samsung asserts that this alteration maintains the same optical quality even when zoomed in at 10x. The new telephoto lens also comes with better low-light performance. The front-facing camera remains consistent with a 12MP configuration, featuring autofocus for high-quality selfies.
The Galaxy S24 Ultra showcases a durable and premium build, incorporating a Titanium frame for enhanced structural integrity. Notably, both the front and back glasses are fortified with Corning Gorilla Armor, marking the first inclusion of this protective technology in a Galaxy device. This combination of materials reinforces the device against potential damage and contributes to its overall robust design.
The Galaxy S24 Ultra comes in four colors — Titanium Black, Titanium Gray, Titanium Violet, and Titanium Yellow. There are also three Samsung.com exclusive colors — Titanium Green, Titanium Orange, and Titanium Blue.
Galaxy S24+ and S24
The Galaxy S24+ and S24 maintain a resemblance to their predecessors, with Samsung making notable improvements by reducing the bezels to accommodate larger displays within the same form factor. The S24+ features an expanded 6.7-inch QHD+ (3,120×1,440) Dynamic AMOLED 2X display, marking an increase in screen size and resolution. The screen now supports QHD+ resolution. On the other hand, the S24 boasts a larger 6.2-inch Full HD+ (2,340×1,080) Dynamic AMOLED 2X display. Both devices now incorporate an LTPO panel, allowing for a variable refresh rate ranging from 1Hz to 120Hz, depending on the content displayed on the screen. This enhancement contributes to a more efficient and adaptive viewing experience.
The Galaxy S24+ and S24 are equipped with either the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor for Galaxy or Samsung’s Exynos 2400 processor, with Malaysia receiving the Exynos 2400 variant. The S24+ model features a 12GB RAM configuration, and the base model starts at 256GB of storage. On the other hand, the S24 model comes with 8GB of RAM, and the base model starts at 128GB of storage. It’s important to note that only the 128GB variant of the S24 utilizes UFS 3.1 storage, while all other storage configurations employ the faster UFS 4.0 technology. This specification difference provides users with varying storage options and performance capabilities based on their preferences and needs.
The Galaxy S24+ and S24 maintain continuity with their predecessors by featuring the same triple-camera setup. Both devices include a 12MP ultra-wide lens, a 50MP main camera with optical image stabilization (OIS), and a 10MP 3x telephoto lens with OIS. Additionally, the front camera on both phones remains consistent with a 12MP configuration, featuring autofocus for capturing high-quality selfies. While the camera configuration is familiar, it underscores the reliability and proven performance of the camera system seen in their predecessors.
Both the Galaxy S24+ and S24 come equipped with an upgraded Armor Aluminum frame, enhancing the overall durability of the devices. This combination of materials not only provides a sleek and premium aesthetic but also ensures increased protection against potential damage, making the devices more resilient in everyday use.

Galaxy AI
The Galaxy S24 series showcases the new Galaxy AI, a comprehensive suite of artificial intelligence features that includes both cloud-based and on-device functionalities. These AI features are designed to enhance various aspects of the user experience, offering a range of capabilities to optimize performance, user interactions, and overall device functionality. With a combination of cloud-based and on-device AI features, the Galaxy S24 series aims to provide users with a smarter and more intuitive smartphone experience.
