First Look: Samsung Galaxy S23 | S23+

Besides the Galaxy S23 Ultra, Samsung also announced the S23 and S23+, which are the phones that most people will be getting. I was able to spend a short period of time with both phones. Here’s the first look at the brand-new Samsung Galaxy S23 and S23+.

Samsung Galaxy S23 | S23+ Specs

Both Galaxy S23 and S23+ look the same but in different form factors. The regular S23 has a 6.1-inch screen while the S23+ has a 6.6-inch screen. Both phones have the same Full HD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X display protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2, the refresh rate will adjust from 48Hz to 120Hz depending on what content the screen is showing. Yup, they both are similar to the S22 and S22+.

The backs of both phones are a different story though, Samsung has replaced the Contour Cut Camera design with a cleaner three-camera ring design, just like the bigger brother S23 Ultra that will collect dust around after using it for a short period of time.

Both phones have the same camera setup as their predecessors — 12MP ultra-wide + 50MP main with OIS + 10MP 3x telephoto with OIS. Both phones have more advanced software algorithms to post-process photos. As for the front camera, Samsung has upgraded to a 12MP selfie camera, which works better in low light.

The rest of the design is pretty much the same as their predecessors. Both phones also have an additional microphone hole next to the USB-C port.

The Samsung Galaxy S23 and S23+ will be available in four colors — Phantom Black, Green, Cream, and Lavender. Apart from these four colors, there are also two Samsung.com exclusive colors — Graphite and Lime.
