Announced back in 2024, the Samsung Galaxy Ring has finally arrived in Malaysia. Designed to excel at sleep, fitness, and wellness monitoring—capabilities also found in the Galaxy Watch series—it achieves this in a far more compact form factor, with negligible weight and an impressive battery life of up to seven days. I’ve been wearing it for more than a week, and here’s the full review.
Unboxing
Design
The Galaxy Ring is made from lightweight Grade 5 titanium, featuring a width of 7.0mm and a thickness of 2.6mm. Its weight varies between 2.3 and 3 grams, depending on the size, which ranges from 5 to 15. Available in Titanium Black, Titanium Silver, and Titanium Gold, the ring has a slim design for comfortable, unobtrusive wear compared to bulkier wrist-based trackers. It is rated IP68 for water and dust resistance and can withstand immersion with a 10ATM rating.
The charging case has a nearly translucent design with a circular LED light to display battery status and a central button for resetting and pairing with new devices. The case doubles as a charger, supporting both wired charging via USB-C and wireless charging when placed on a compatible phone.
Health & Fitness
Equipped with advanced sensors, the Galaxy Ring tracks health metrics such as activity levels, sleep patterns, heart rate, and skin temperature. It generates a daily “Energy Score” to provide personalized insights, helping users manage activity and rest effectively. Our testing found its sleep tracking, SpO2 monitoring, and heart rate measurements to be accurate and reliable. The device is designed for simplicity—once worn, it works seamlessly with the Samsung Health or Wearable app to collect and analyze data.
Compatibility
While the ring covers essential health tracking, pairing it with a Galaxy Watch4 or later models, or the Fit3, expands its functionality for more comprehensive monitoring. Currently, it is only compatible with Android devices running Android 11 or higher, using Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) 5.4 for connectivity. Integration with the Samsung Health app allows for detailed insights and data synchronization. Unfortunately, iOS support is not yet available, but it may be introduced in the future.
Battery Life
A notable advantage of the Galaxy Ring is its long battery life, lasting six to seven days on a single charge. The clear charging case features white circular LED indicators for easy battery monitoring. However, the case charges at a maximum of 2W, so it’s advisable to fully charge it before extended use.
Final Words
At RM2,099, the Galaxy Ring is far from an impulse purchase—it’s pricier than the well-equipped Galaxy Watch7 and is only available to Android users. Please note that buyers will need to select their ring size at the time of purchase, and delivery may take as long as six weeks before the item is ready for pickup. For additional details, visit the official product page for more information.
The Galaxy Ring provides a sleek and comfortable option for users who want consistent health tracking without the inconvenience of bulkier devices. By concentrating on key health measurements and delivering long-lasting battery performance, it serves as a practical choice for those prioritizing personal wellness. That said, prospective buyers should consider its current restrictions, such as compatibility limited to Android devices and the lack of some more advanced capabilities. As wearable technology continues to develop, future versions may expand the ring’s features and compatibility, making it even more versatile.
