Unboxing & First Impressions: Samsung Galaxy A56 5G

Samsung Malaysia officially launched the new Galaxy A series smartphones: the Galaxy A56 5G, Galaxy A36 5G, and Galaxy A26 5G. Today, we have the Galaxy A56 5G with us, and we’re excited to share our first impressions of this newest addition to the Galaxy A lineup.

Samsung Galaxy A56 5G Specs

The Galaxy A56 comes in a white box as usual, I believe that’s the way Samsung differentiates between high-end and mid-range series. The S and Z series come in a black box, while the rest will be a white box.

Opening up the cover, you’ll see the same layout as usual: the phone is facing down while the cables and paperwork are on the cover of the box.

The Galaxy A56 looks quite similar to its predecessor, but it now has a slightly larger 6.7-inch Full HD+ Super AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. You still get thick bezels all around with the chin slightly thicker than the rest.

The phone is pretty thin measuring just 7.4mm and the camera module has been redesigned to eliminate lens protrusions. In terms of cameras, it has the same triple-camera setup on the back: 50MP f/1.8 main camera with OIS + 12MP f/2.2 fixed-focus ultra-wide camera + 5MP f/2.4 macro camera. The selfie camera has been downgraded to a 12MP sensor though, but Samsung has enhanced the overall quality thanks to its AI features.

Speaking of AI features, the latest Galaxy A series comes with Awesome Intelligence, which isn’t as advanced as the Galaxy AI on the S series but you still get features like Circle to Search, AI Select, Object Eraser, Best Face, Edit Suggestions, and Instant Slow-mo. We will talk more about the features in our full review.

Available in Awesome Lightgray, Awesome Graphite, Awesome Olive, and Awesome Pink, you can grab the Galaxy A56 before 31 March 2025 and enjoy up to RM429 worth of rewards, which include:
