Samsung has launched its latest Galaxy A series smartphones—the Galaxy A56 5G, Galaxy A36 5G, and Galaxy A26 5G. These new models mark the debut of Awesome Intelligence in the A series, introducing AI-driven features to boost creativity while enhancing durability, security, and longevity for a more reliable mobile experience.
All three devices offer innovative tools like Circle to Search, enabling instant on-screen searches, and advanced image editing features such as Object Eraser. They also feature AI-powered camera upgrades, delivering improved image quality, better low-light performance, and enhanced video recording.
Galaxy A56
The Galaxy A56 stands out with several key improvements, including 45W wired charging—a first for the A series. It is powered by Samsung’s new Exynos 1580 chipset, which provides a significant performance boost over its predecessor. The device sports a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED display with Full HD+ resolution, a peak brightness of 1,900 nits, and Gorilla Glass Victus+ protection. Its sleek design measures just 7.4mm thick, and the camera module has been refined to eliminate protruding lenses.
The Exynos 1580 chipset features a 2.9GHz CPU, an AMD-based GPU with 2x WGP, and an NPU capable of 14.7 TOPS, resulting in a 37% performance improvement. The phone comes with up to 12GB RAM.
The camera setup remains unchanged, with a 50MP f/1.8 main camera, a 12MP f/2.2 ultra-wide lens, and a 5MP f/2.4 macro lens. The front camera is a 12MP f/2.2 sensor. AI enhancements improve image quality with features like context-aware image processing and better low-light performance. Samsung has also doubled the zoom transition speed between the main and ultra-wide cameras.
Running on Android 15 with One UI 7.0, the Galaxy A56 offers a refreshed interface and more customization options. It is equipped with a 5,000mAh battery supporting 45W Super Fast Charge 2.0, enabling a 65% charge in 30 minutes and a full charge in 68 minutes.
Galaxy A36
The Galaxy A36 introduces the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 chipset, a departure from the Exynos and Dimensity chips used in earlier models. It features a larger vapor chamber, similar to the one in the Galaxy S24+, for improved thermal management. The base model offers 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, with options for 12GB of RAM and up to 256GB of storage.
It shares the same 6.7-inch Super AMOLED display with Full HD+ resolution and 1,900-nit peak brightness as the A56. Both the front and back panels are protected by Gorilla Glass Victus+, while the frame is made of polycarbonate. The device retains an IP67 rating for dust and water resistance.
The rear camera system includes a 50MP f/1.8 main camera with OIS, an 8MP f/2.2 ultra-wide lens, and a 5MP f/2.4 macro camera. The front camera has been upgraded to a 12MP sensor, and video HDR (10-bit up to 4K at 30fps) is now supported on both front and rear cameras.
The A36 is powered by a 5,000mAh battery with 45W charging, up from 25W in its predecessor. A 30-minute charge reaches 66%, and a full charge takes 68 minutes. It launches with Android 15 and One UI 7, supporting six OS updates and six years of security patches. AI features like Circle to Search, Object Eraser, and custom image filters are included.
Galaxy A26
The Galaxy A26 is a more affordable option, sharing many features with last year’s A35. It is powered by the Exynos 1380 chipset, which delivers 8% lower CPU performance compared to the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 in the A36. Unlike the A36, it lacks an enhanced vapor chamber for cooling.
The base model comes with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, with an option for 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. It also includes a MicroSD card slot, a feature absent in higher-tier A-series models. The device runs Android 15 with One UI 7 and supports six OS updates and six years of security patches.
The A26 features a 6.7-inch OLED display with Full HD+ resolution. However, it uses a notch for the selfie camera instead of a punch-hole design, and the fingerprint scanner is side-mounted rather than under the display. The front camera is a 13MP sensor without video HDR support. The rear camera setup includes a 50MP main camera with OIS, an 8MP ultra-wide lens, and a 2MP macro lens.
Samsung has slimmed down the A26’s body to 7.7mm (from 8.3mm), though the weight has increased slightly to 200g. It now has an IP67 rating for dust and water resistance, matching the A36 and A56. The 5,000mAh battery supports 25W charging.
Availability
The Galaxy A56 5G will be available in Awesome Lightgray, Awesome Graphite, Awesome Olive, and Awesome Pink. The Galaxy A36 5G comes in Awesome Lavender, Awesome Black, Awesome White, and Awesome Lime, while the Galaxy A26 5G is offered in Black, Mint, and Peach Pink.
All three models will receive six years of security and OS updates. They will go on sale in Malaysia starting March 18, 2025, though Samsung has yet to announce local pricing.
