ASUS Republic of Gamers (ROG) Malaysia has announced that pre-orders for the ROG Xbox Ally X20 will open soon, with Malaysian gamers able to choose between the handheld gaming device on its own or as part of a special 20th anniversary bundle.
The ROG Xbox Ally X20 marks ROG’s 20th anniversary with a translucent black chassis and gold-accented internal structure. It also introduces ROG’s new Nebula HDR display, featuring a 7.4-inch OLED panel, while gaming performance is handled by the AMD Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme processor.
ROG Xbox Ally X20
Designed exclusively to celebrate two decades of ROG, the ROG Xbox Ally X20 features a translucent black chassis that offers a glimpse of its internal components and gold-accented structure. The design is intended to evoke the look and feel of an earlier era of gaming while housing an updated cooling system and AMD silicon.
The handheld comes with Xbox-inspired ergonomics, including ABXY buttons, a transforming D-pad, impulse triggers, bumpers and two assignable rear buttons. It also features full-size TMR joysticks, HD haptics and a six-axis IMU.
The 7.4-inch Nebula HDR OLED display has a 1920 x 1080 resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate and up to 1,400 nits peak brightness. It also supports VESA DisplayHDR True Black 1400, Dolby Vision and FreeSync Premium Pro with variable refresh rates from 30Hz to 120Hz. It also includes Corning Gorilla Glass Victus and a DXC anti-reflection coating.
Under the hood, the handheld comes with 24GB of LPDDR5X-8000 memory and a 1TB M.2 2280 SSD, with the latter designed to make storage upgrades easier. Connectivity includes Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.4, a USB4 port, a USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C port, a microSD Express card reader and a 3.5mm audio jack. The device is powered by an 80Wh battery and weighs 756g.
ROG XREAL R1 Edition 20 Gaming AR Glasses
For gamers looking for a more immersive setup, the ROG XREAL R1 Edition 20 Gaming AR Glasses will also be available separately in Malaysia.
The glasses feature Sony Micro OLED panels with a 1920 x 1080 resolution per eye and support refresh rates of up to 240Hz with Frame Rate Boost enabled. They offer a 0.01ms response time, 57-degree field of view and a virtual screen measuring up to 171 inches when viewed from four metres.
The AR glasses also feature native 3DoF tracking, Anchor Mode and electrochromic dimming with three tint levels. Audio is provided by Bose, while the glasses include a noise-cancelling microphone array and connect to the ROG Xbox Ally X20 through USB Type-C.
A complete ROG Xbox Ally X20 gaming bundle
For those after the full 20th anniversary package, the ROG Xbox Ally X20 Bundle combines the handheld with the ROG XREAL R1 Edition 20 Gaming AR Glasses and a range of accessories.
The bundle includes a dbrand Killswitch case featuring gold-and-black accents, a kickstand and ruggedised grips. It also comes with a custom dbrand skin featuring a circuit-board pattern inspired by the handheld’s internal design, along with joystick covers bearing the ROG logo.
A custom Pelican Protector Case with red ROG latches and a 20th anniversary badge is included for transporting the device and accessories. The bundle also comes with a 68W charger for gaming on the go.
The ROG XREAL R1 Edition 20 Gaming AR Glasses can connect directly to the ROG Xbox Ally X20 using a single USB Type-C cable, with Command Center integration and a matching black-and-gold design completing the setup.
ROG Xbox Ally X20 Malaysia availability
ROG Malaysia has confirmed that the ROG Xbox Ally X20, ROG XREAL R1 Edition 20 Gaming AR Glasses and ROG Xbox Ally X20 Bundle will all be coming to Malaysia. However, local pricing and the exact pre-order date have yet to be announced.
ROG Malaysia says it will announce more details about the Malaysian pre-order programme and official local availability soon.
