REDMAGIC Astra 2 Gaming Tablet Launched in Malaysia with Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 and Liquid Cooling
REDMAGIC has officially launched the REDMAGIC Astra 2 Gaming Tablet in Malaysia, featuring the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, a 185Hz OLED display, and an upgraded liquid cooling system. The tablet is also officially SIRIM-certified for the Malaysian market.
The REDMAGIC Astra 2 is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, featuring an octa-core CPU with clock speeds of up to 4.6GHz, paired with an Adreno GPU. It is complemented by the dedicated RedCore R4 gaming chip, which supports 2K super-resolution, customisable in-game effects, and intelligent power management.
The tablet also features Energy Cube 3.0, an optimisation engine that dynamically allocates CPU, GPU, memory, cooling, and touch resources according to gaming scenarios. REDMAGIC claims this can deliver up to a 40% performance improvement and 12% lower power consumption in gaming workloads. Memory and storage configurations include up to 16GB of RAM and 512GB of UFS storage.
For thermal management, the REDMAGIC Astra 2 introduces the AquaCore Cooling System 2.0, which combines three cooling technologies. These include a liquid cooling system with a ceramic micropump and internal coolant channels, a large 4D vapour chamber, and Liquid Metal 3.0 for transferring heat away from the processor. REDMAGIC says the system is designed to maintain stable performance during extended gaming sessions.
On the front, the tablet sports a 9.06-inch H5 OLED display with a resolution of 2,400 × 1,504 pixels, a refresh rate of up to 185Hz, and peak brightness of 1,600 nits. The display has a 90.1% screen-to-body ratio, supports the DCI-P3 colour gamut, and offers a claimed colour accuracy of ΔE of approximately 0.7.
For touch input, the REDMAGIC Astra 2 uses a custom Synaptics S3930T touch controller, offering an average touch sampling rate of 300Hz and an instant sampling rate of up to 2,000Hz. The display is also SGS-certified for blue-light protection and flicker-free viewing, with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 providing screen protection.
The audio system consists of dual symmetrical stereo speakers with N’Bass acoustic enhancement material and DTS Ultra certification. The tablet also features dual X-axis linear motors for 4D stereo haptic feedback, alongside customisable RGB lighting.
For gaming software, REDMAGIC’s Game Space includes Frame Rate Boost with frame interpolation, enabling 2K upscaling at up to 120 FPS. Additional features include a customisable crosshair, Hunter Filter for improved enemy visibility, motion-sensing controls, screen extraction, flexible recording, and a sound equaliser.
The tablet also comes with several AI-powered gaming tools, including Tactical Coach for real-time strategy advice in Delta Force, Performance Review for skill analysis in Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB), and Mora Mouthpiece for in-game voice conversations. Display options include full-screen, 4:3, and 16:9 aspect ratios, as well as forced orientation for games designed for portrait mode.
In terms of design, the REDMAGIC Astra 2 features a flat profile without a protruding camera module, a transparent metal body, an aviation-grade aluminium middle frame, and a glass-accented rear panel. It measures 207.1 × 134.2 × 6.9mm and weighs 363g. Other features include IP54 dust and water resistance, fingerprint and facial recognition, a customisable Magic Key, Wi-Fi 6, and Bluetooth 6.0.
Powering the tablet is an 8,300mAh battery with support for 75W fast charging. Its dual USB-C ports also support two-way reverse charging, allowing the tablet to charge other compatible devices. According to REDMAGIC’s laboratory results, the Astra 2 can deliver up to 9.6 hours of daily use, 9.09 hours of Genshin Impact gameplay at full frame rate, and 27.3 days of standby time. A full charge through the USB 3.2 Gen 2 port takes approximately 57 minutes.
The tablet’s dual USB-C ports comprise one USB 3.2 Gen 2 port supporting data transfer speeds of up to 10Gbps and 75W charging, alongside a USB 2.0 port for audio output and additional charging. It also supports DisplayPort output at up to 4K at 144Hz or 8K at 60Hz, as well as wired and wireless screen mirroring.
In Malaysia, the REDMAGIC Astra 2 Gaming Tablet is available in Eclipse Black with two configurations:
