Unboxing & First Impressions: realme 5

Introduction

We unboxed the realme 5 Pro a few days ago, and now it’s time to take a look at its younger brother — the realme 5. Without further ado, here’s the unboxing and first impressions.

Unboxing

Similar to the 5 Pro, the phone comes in a traditional white box with the “realme” logo in a yellow rectangle, except this time the taglines are a little bit different: 5,000mAh Battery and Quad Camera.

Open up the box, you’ll see the welcome message first again, not the phone first.

After that, you’ll see the phone wrapped in matte plastic and underneath the phone is the charger, MicroUSB cable, and the SIM ejector tool.

The box contains:

Once again, it doesn’t come with earphones. Duly note that this isn’t the final retail version, hence the missing of user guide and warranty.

First Impressions

Like the 5 Pro, the phone has the new crystal design, an upgrade from diamond-cutting. Our unit is the Crystal Blue variant, which will show different shades of blues when looking from different angles.

The phone has four cameras on the back — 12MP f/1.8 main + 8MP 119° wide-angle lens + 2MP portrait camera + 2MP macro camera.

The phone sports a 6.5-inch HD+ IPS display with a mini-drop notch. Compared to the 5 Pro, the realme 5 has a thicker bottom chin, probably to make space for the MicroUSB port below.

The phone houses the power button on the right and volume rocker on the left. As for the bottom, it has a 3.5mm audio jack, MicroUSB port, and the mono speaker. Yup, it’s a little bit disappointing to see the MicroUSB port since we are living in 2019, but let’s forget about that as it’s a phone that costs below RM800.

The realme 5 will be available on Lazada from 17th October onwards, pricing at RM599 and RM799 for the 3GB + 64GB and 4GB + 128GB, respectively.
