Introduction

Here comes the realme 5 Pro, realme’s latest affordable mid-range smartphone. The company is expected to launch the latest realme 5 series in Malaysia on 3rd October. Thankfully, we managed to get the device before the launch, here comes the unboxing and first impressions!

Unboxing

The phone comes in a traditional white box with the “realme” logo in a yellow rectangle, looks like a sticker but it isn’t.

Open up the box, you’ll first see the welcome message, instead of the phone first.

There you have it! The phone wrapped in matte plastic. Underneath the phone is actually the charger, USB-C cable, and the SIM ejector tool.

The box contains:

  • realme 5 Pro
  • User guide and warranty
  • TPU case
  • SIM ejector tool
  • USB-C cable
  • VOOC Flash Charge 3.0 wall adapter

Sadly, it doesn’t come with the earphones, not really sure why since realme earphones aren’t expensive. Duly note that the VOOC Flash Charge 3.0 wall adapter in the box isn’t the one coming in the final retail version. The final one will have a UK 3 pins plug.

First Impressions

The first thing that caught my eyes after unboxing the phone was the new crystal design, which is an upgrade from classical diamond-cutting. It really looks unique, our unit is the Crystal Green variant, by the way.

This time around, the 5 Pro has four cameras on the back, a big jump from the dual-camera setup on its predecessor. It has 48MP Sony IMX586 sensor + 8MP 119° wide-angle lens + 2MP portrait camera + 2MP macro camera.

The front is a 6.3-inch Full HD+ IPS display with a dew-drop notch, looks pretty much like the OnePlus 7.

The phone houses the power button on the right and volume rocker on the left. As for the bottom, it has a 3.5mm audio jack, USB-C port, and the mono speaker. It’s great to see that realme keeps the 3.5mm audio jack and uses the USB-C port since this phone is likely to cost around the RM1k price tag.

Unfortunately, realme Malaysia hasn’t revealed the official price of this phone, guess we’ll have to wait until the official launch on the 3rd of October. Meanwhile, stay tuned as we are currently working on the full review of the phone.

[Update] The realme 5 Pro is priced at RM1,099 and will be available exclusively on Lazada starting 10th October.
