Porsche Design Huawei Mate RS Has Two Fingerprint Readers

Besides the P20 series, Huawei has also partnered with Porsche Design to announce the Porsche Design Huawei Mate RS! The reason behind the RS naming is indicating the phone’s powerful performance, as the term “RS” stands in the world of Porsche motorsport for outstanding racing performance.

Unlike the P20 series, the Mate RS doesn’t have a notched screen. The phone sports a 6-inch AMOLED 2K 18:9 curved display. Surprisingly, the phone actually has an under display fingerprint reader, making it the world’s first smartphone with dual fingerprint scanner since there’s another one on the back.

Powering the device is the same Kirin 970 processor with 6GB RAM and 256GB storage, there’s also a 512GB storage variant. Camera wise, the phone has the same Leica Triple Camera setup as the P20 Pro — an 8MP RGB f/2.4 telephoto lens + 40MP 1/1.7″ RGB sensor + 20MP f/1.6 monochrome sensor. The camera is capable of 3x optical zoom, 5x hybrid zoom, maximum ISO of 102,400, 720p@960fps, and other AI camera features. Selfie wise, it’s the same 24MP front camera that can also be used for Face Unlock.

Other good features of the device include IP67-rated water and dust resistance, Dual SLS (super linear system) speakers with Dolby Atmos, 4,000mAh battery with Huawei SuperCharge, wireless charging, and premium packaging.

Each unit of the Porsche Design Huawei Mate RS comes with a leather case, which available in black or red depending on which variant you choose. The device will price at €1,695 (around RM8,075) and €2,095 (around RM9,980) for 256GB and 512GB variants, respectively. Expect to see the device available in Malaysia in the middle of May 2018.
