POCO has officially launched the new POCO F9 Series in Malaysia, comprising the POCO F9 Ultra and POCO F9 Pro. The latest F Series smartphones focus on performance and gaming, while also bringing upgrades to the display, camera system, audio and battery life.
The POCO F9 Series features Qualcomm flagship mobile platforms paired with POCO’s dedicated VisionBoost D8 chipset, enabling Smart frame rate technology of up to 185FPS. The series also marks the next chapter of POCO’s partnership with Bose, introducing Sound by Bose technology for an enhanced mobile audio experience.
POCO F9 Ultra
The POCO F9 Ultra sits at the top of the new POCO F9 Series, featuring the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 Mobile Platform. According to POCO’s internal testing, the smartphone achieved an AnTuTu score of 4,165,108, making it the highest score recorded on a POCO smartphone.
The smartphone is also equipped with the dedicated VisionBoost D8 chipset for visual processing. Combined with Smart Frame Rate technology, the POCO F9 Ultra can deliver up to 185FPS in supported games. Smart frame rate and AI Super Resolution can also run simultaneously, providing smoother motion while retaining sharper visual details.
POCO says more than 20 game titles can run natively at 185FPS, while another five games can reach 185FPS through Smart Frame Rate technology.
Gaming performance is further supported by the WildBoost Engine, Game Color Enhancement, a 4,800Hz instant touch sampling rate, up to 480Hz 10-point touch sampling rate and up to 200Hz gyro sampling rate.
The POCO F9 Ultra also comes with up to 1TB of storage and features the POCO 3D IceLoop cooling system to help maintain performance and stability during demanding gaming sessions.
The POCO F9 Ultra features a large 6.9-inch POCO HyperRGB AMOLED display with a refresh rate of up to 185Hz.
The HyperRGB technology uses a full RGB subpixel structure to deliver crisp and vibrant visuals while consuming less power. The display also uses the new M11 luminescent material, offering up to 4,500 nits of peak brightness across multiple scenarios and up to 10,000 nits for HDR content.
The smartphone also introduces Xiaomi Vision Care, which has received TÜV Rheinland Quadruple Eye Care certification.
On the rear, the POCO F9 Ultra features a dynamic light that provides personalised effects for incoming calls, notifications, gaming and music.
The POCO F9 Ultra features dual symmetrical 1115D master-grade stereo speakers paired with an ultra-large 1620 independent subwoofer. The combination creates a 2.1-channel audio system designed to deliver deeper bass, a wider soundstage and a more stable sound image.
It also features an 8,050mAh battery, the largest battery capacity in the POCO F Series. The battery uses 16% silicon-carbon content to provide high energy density while maintaining a streamlined form factor.
POCO claims the F9 Ultra can provide up to two days of battery life based on its internal testing. The phone supports 100W wired HyperCharge and 50W wireless HyperCharge, alongside up to 27W wired and 22.5W wireless reverse charging.
The POCO F9 Ultra introduces POCO’s first 200MP ultra-clear camera system with OIS. Its dedicated 200MP mode is designed to capture detailed images, allowing users to crop, reframe and edit photos after capturing them.
For long-range photography, the F9 Ultra features a 5x periscope telephoto camera, with support for 10x lossless zoom and up to 20x AI Ultra Zoom.
A 32MP front camera is also included, while Live cinematography supports 4K Ultra HD video recording with automated focal transitions and fluid lens shifts.
POCO F9 Pro
The POCO F9 Pro is designed to deliver flagship gaming performance in a more compact form factor. Like the F9 Ultra, it combines a Qualcomm flagship mobile platform with the dedicated VisionBoost D8 chipset.
The F9 Pro supports Smart frame rate technology of up to 185FPS, as well as AI Super Resolution. It also features the WildBoost Engine, Game Color Enhancement, a 4,800Hz instant touch sampling rate, up to 480Hz 10-point touch sampling rate and up to 200Hz gyro sampling rate.
The POCO 3D IceLoop cooling system is included to help maintain performance during demanding workloads and extended gaming sessions.
The POCO F9 Pro comes with a more compact 6.59-inch POCO HyperRGB AMOLED display, while retaining the same 185Hz refresh rate and HyperRGB technology as the F9 Ultra.
The display uses the new M11 luminescent material, offering up to 4,500 nits of peak brightness and up to 10,000 nits for HDR content.
Xiaomi Vision Care is also included, with the display receiving TÜV Rheinland Quadruple Eye Care certification.
The Aurora Green variant stands out with POCO’s first full-panel luminous design. The rear panel can produce a soft glow after exposure to sunlight or indoor lighting, while users can create their own luminous patterns using a blue-violet laser pointer, sold separately.
For audio, the POCO F9 Pro features dual symmetrical 1115F super-linear stereo speakers with a Sealed Cavity Design. The setup is designed to provide richer midrange frequencies, crisp high frequencies and detailed sound.
Both the F9 Pro and F9 Ultra offer Dynamic and Balanced sound profiles, while Sound by Bose tuning is designed to deliver detailed audio at lower volumes and reduce distortion at higher volumes.
The new Game Audio mode enhances the volume of footsteps in supported games while retaining other important audio cues, such as gunfire and voices.
Powering the F9 Pro is a 6,330mAh battery, with support for 100W wired HyperCharge and 50W wireless HyperCharge. Reverse charging is also supported at up to 27W wired and 22.5W wireless.
The POCO F9 Pro also features POCO’s first 200MP ultra-clear camera system with OIS and a 32MP front-facing camera.
Instead of the F9 Ultra’s periscope camera, the F9 Pro comes with a 50MP 2.5x floating telephoto camera capable of focusing from as close as 10cm. This allows it to handle both close-up macro shots and distant subjects.
The phone also supports Live cinematography with 4K Ultra HD video recording, automated focal transitions and fluid lens shifts.
POCO X8
Alongside the POCO F9 Series, POCO has also introduced the POCO X8, which focuses on battery endurance, a larger display and durability for everyday use.
The POCO X8 packs an 8,340mAh battery, representing a 63.2% increase in capacity compared with its predecessor. The battery uses silicon-carbon technology with 13% silicon content and is claimed to provide more than two days of battery life on a single charge.
POCO also says the battery can retain at least 80% of its capacity after 1,600 charging cycles, equivalent to around six years of regular use based on its internal calculations. The device has also received TÜV SÜD 5-star Battery Performance Certification following tests covering temperature conditions, mechanical stress and battery cycles.
For charging, the POCO X8 supports 67W HyperCharge and 22.5W wired reverse charging, allowing it to power up quickly while also serving as a power source for other devices.
The POCO X8 features a 6.83-inch 1.5K ultra-bright display with up to 3,500 nits of peak brightness across 25% of the screen. It also features a flagship-grade luminous material designed to provide brighter visuals with improved power efficiency.
The display comes with TÜV Rheinland eye-care certifications for more comfortable viewing during extended use.
In terms of design, the POCO X8 adopts a minimalist appearance with geometric elements and sharp lines. Its middle frame features a sandblasted finish, while the flat display has narrow bezels.
Durability is another highlight, with the smartphone featuring IP66, IP68, IP69 and IP69K water and dust resistance ratings. It also introduces POCO’s first Underwater Mode, which allows users to capture photos and videos in supported underwater scenarios.
The display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2, with the device certified to withstand drops from up to 3 metres under specific SGS testing conditions.
Powering the POCO X8 is the Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 Mobile Platform, built on a 4nm process. The device also features an integrated Adreno GPU for handling high-definition gaming and demanding 3D workloads.
The smartphone runs Xiaomi HyperOS 3 and includes Xiaomi HyperIsland and Google Gemini for additional smart features. Xiaomi Offline Communication is also supported, allowing communication without conventional network coverage in supported scenarios.
For photography, the POCO X8 comes with a 50MP main camera featuring both OIS and EIS, paired with a 16MP front-facing camera. Dual Video allows users to record from the front and rear cameras simultaneously.
The camera system is complemented by AI-powered editing tools, including AI Glare Removal, AI Erase Pro, AI Image Expansion, AI Image Enhancement and AI Beautify.
