Why Owning The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip3 Could Be A Good Idea?

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip3 Review_1

Introduction

Not long ago, I reviewed the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip3, which could be many people’s first flip phone after so many years. I’ve been using the phone since then and I must say I really enjoy using it a lot! After using the phone for a long period, I started to appreciate flip phones even more. Here’s why owning the Galaxy Z Flip3 could be a good idea.

Compact Form Factor

One advantage of the Z Flip3 is the ability to fold the screen in half, meaning the form factor is now two times smaller when you are not using the phone. The phone is pretty easy to carry around and it fits in nearly everywhere.

Protect The Main Screen

In order to use the main screen, you’ll need to flip open the phone, which also means that you’ll keep the phone close when you are not using the phone. That also means you are less likely to leave the screen exposed to drops and scratches most of the time. It actually protects the screen in a way, and Samsung has made the screen 80% more durable than before. It really feels just like glass on any other ordinary phone.

No Tripod? No Problem!

Since the phone can be flipped open at any angle, you don’t really need a tripod to take photos and record videos. Just make sure you put the phone on a flat surface and it can become a “tripod” on its own. So now you can play “Squid Game: Red Light, Green Light” on IG Story without holding the phone.

Flex Mode

The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip3 comes with the Flex Mode feature, which automatically splits into two 4-inch screens when the device is free-standing, so you can easily view images, contents, or videos on the top half of the display, and control them on the bottom half. Samsung has further improved this feature by adding a Flex Mode Panel, which you can select certain apps to have a quick panel/controls at the bottom half of the screen when the screen is folded.

Cover Screen

Unlike its predecessor, the phone comes with a bigger 1.9-inch Super AMOLED cover screen, which lets you do more things now. You can use the cover screen to view all the incoming notifications to see whether you should open it right away or not. This does improve your overall productivity as some notifications might not be important so you can choose not to flip open the phone and continue to do your things.

What’s more? Swiping up the cover screen will let you access Samsung Pay, so you can pay instantly with the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip3.

Selfie with Rear Cameras

If you want to capture better selfies, you can double press the power button and the cover screen will now show the camera viewfinder. By doing that, you can capture selfies with either the main or ultra-wide camera. Swipe up or down in the viewfinder to switch between the main and ultra-wide cameras, while swiping left or right allows you to switch between photo and video modes.

IPX8 Water Resistance

For the first time in a foldable device, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip3 comes with an IPX8 rating for water resistance, definitely not a feature that I’d expect on a foldable device. Additionally, the phone is also now more durable with an Armor Aluminum frame to protect the Hideaway Hinge.
