OPPO has announced a new set of updates for ColorOS 16, introducing additional customisation options, new camera filters, and system improvements, designed to make everyday smartphone use more personal and intuitive.
The latest update continues OPPO’s approach of refining ColorOS 16 through regular software updates, with improvements spanning the way users unlock, capture photos, manage contacts and navigate their devices.
Custom Fingerprint Unlock Animations
ColorOS 16 now offers new fingerprint unlock animations and icon styles, giving users more ways to personalise the appearance of their smartphones.
Users can mix and match different icon styles with unlock animations to create a visual experience that better suits their preferences. The new options also add a more distinctive touch to the fingerprint unlocking process, one of the interactions users perform frequently throughout the day.
Two New Camera Filters
The Camera app receives two new filters in the latest update: Primrose and Bold B&W.
Primrose is designed to give photos a warmer aesthetic, making it suitable for portraits and everyday shots, while Bold B&W offers a more dramatic monochrome look. Both filters are available directly within the native Camera app, allowing users to experiment with different styles without relying on third-party editing tools.
Preview Contact Posters Before Assigning Them
ColorOS 16 also introduces a Contact Poster preview feature, allowing users to see and personalise their Contact Posters before assigning them.
This provides greater control over how a user’s contact information is presented during calls, while adding a more visual and personalised touch to the calling experience.
Smoother Multitasking and Improved Face Unlock
OPPO has also made several changes aimed at improving the overall responsiveness of ColorOS 16. Transition animations in Recent Tasks have been refined to provide smoother navigation when switching between apps and multitasking.
Face Unlock has also been enhanced with support for a backup face profile. This is designed to help maintain reliable face recognition across different everyday scenarios.
