Introduction
The OPPO Reno6 Pro was launched right after the Reno6 Z and Reno6, meaning all devices from the Reno6 lineup are now available in Malaysia. In case you didn’t know, the Reno6 Pro in Malaysia is actually the Reno6 Pro+ in China. I’ve been using the phone for a few weeks, and here’s the full review!

Design
The front of the OPPO Reno6 Pro is all about the screen. It has significant thinner bezels all around, partially thanks to curve sides. There’s still a 32MP hole-punch selfie camera on the top left corner of the screen.
Just like other OPPO devices, the buttons and ports are located at the same position, though the Reno6 Pro doesn’t have a 3.5mm audio jack. No idea why phone manufacturers nowadays decide not to include a 3.5mm audio jack for the higher-end model, not a healthy trend and it’s been happening for quite a long time, so I guess it’s not going to change.
The back of the phone still has the Reno Glow finish, which looks and feels pretty good. My review unit is the Artic Blue variant, which reflects different shades of blues. Personally, I really like the Reno Glow finish, it has a pretty nice texture to touch and I hardly notice any scars on the back after using it for a month.
Display
The OPPO Reno6 Pro sports a 6.55-inch Full HD+ 90Hz AMOLED curved display. To be honest, I would actually prefer a flat display over a curved one, but I have no issue with it as long as it doesn’t create issues for me. The phone actually comes with a 360° Light-Sensing feature that gives you the most accurate automatic screen brightness. Basically, OPPO has added another ambient light sensor at the back of the phone.
As expected, it is a good screen, not as good as the Find X3 Pro but I doubt most people will actually notice the difference. One thing though, the in-display fingerprint sensor is located too low! Would prefer it to be placed higher.
Performance
Powering the OPPO Reno6 Pro is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 processor with 12GB RAM and 256GB UFS 3.1 storage. The Snapdragon 870 processor is actually the higher clock speeds version of last year’s Snapdragon 865 processor. In terms of performance, the phone actually performs just like a flagship device. The performance might not be as good as the Snapdragon 888 processor on paper, but it actually feels the same!
The phone also comes with an X-axis linear motor that provides great haptic vibrations. It still doesn’t feel as good as an iPhone, but you’ll definitely feel that it’s a premium Android device. It also has stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos support, which improves the overall audio experience.
Software
The OPPO Reno6 Pro runs on ColorOS 11.3 based on Android 11. The overall experience is pretty similar to other OPPO devices like the Find X3 Pro and Reno6 Z, but it doesn’t come with Air Gestures, not that I will use this feature anyway. Oh, it actually supports double-tap to lock the phone, a handy feature that I wish other OPPO devices have. I think the reason why OPPO included this feature on the Reno6 Pro is because of the curved display, making the overall frame thinner, hence, it has a higher risk of dropping the phone when pressing the power button.
Camera
The OPPO Reno6 Pro packs a quad-camera setup on the back — 13MP telephoto (5x hybrid zoom) + 50MP Sony IMX766 main with OIS + 16MP ultra-wide + 2MP macro. Yup, you get a 50MP Sony IMX766 main camera, the same main camera as the Find X3 Pro.

Image quality generally is quite good actually, though the colors between the three cameras aren’t that consistent. The main camera shoots impressive photos just like the Find X3 Pro, while the ultra-wide camera is slightly lacking behind as expected. As for the telephoto camera, OPPO claims that it is capable of shooting 5x hybrid zoom photos. On 2x optical zoom, photos are actually quite decent, you’ll notice noise and sharpening when you shoot with 5x hybrid zoom. Typical post-processing effect you get when there’s no capable hardware. Battery Life
The OPPO Reno6 Pro has a 4,500mAh battery that supports 65W SuperVOOC 2.0 flash charging. Same as the Find X3 Pro, it’ll take around 30 minutes to charge the phone from dead to 100%. In terms of battery life, the phone was able to last through a day easily with around 6 hours of screen-on-time before its battery turns red.
Final Words
Retailing at RM2,999, the OPPO Reno6 Pro actually has quite a lot of similarities to the flagship Find X3 Pro. It retains the same Reno Glow design language, which I really like a lot, and OPPO has tuned down other aspects such as the lower refresh rate, less powerful processor, and less impressive ultra-wide camera. The rest is almost the same! Again, if you are okay with ColorOS, you can just go right ahead and buy it!
