Introduction
This is the OPPO A74 4G, nope, it’s not the 5G variant that was launched last month, but the phone is more affordable retailing at only RM899. Without further ado, it’s time for the unboxing and first impressions!
Unboxing
Like many other OPPO mid-range phones, the OPPO A74 4G comes in a white box. It feels less premium compared to the Find X series and Reno series, which is expected. The box contains the phone itself, transparent TPU case, charging brick, USB-C cable, earphones, and paperwork.
First Impressions
Like many other mid-range phones, the A74 4G has thick bezels around the screen with a thick chin at the bottom. It sports a 6.43-inch Full HD+ 60Hz AMOLED display with a hole-punch camera on the top left corner. Obviously, I don’t mind that it has a 90Hz refresh rate, would rather have a 60Hz AMOLED panel over a 90Hz LCD panel.
The advantage of using the AMOLED panel is the ability to put an optical fingerprint sensor under the screen, something that an LCD panel cannot do.
The back of the phone houses a triple-camera setup — a 48MP main camera + a 2MP depth camera + a 2MP macro camera. Yup, basically only the main camera is useful.
The OPPO A74 4G has a 3.5mm audio jack at the bottom, next to the USB-C port and the speaker grill. Even though it’s an affordable device, OPPO still uses a USB-C port for charging and data transferring as MicroUSB is just so outdated.
Retailing at RM899, the OPPO A74 4G is available in Blue and Black colors. You can purchase the phone via:
