nubia has officially launched the Neo 5 Max 5G in Malaysia, introducing what the brand describes as a “4-in-1” PadPhone that combines the large-screen experience of a tablet with the portability of a smartphone, console-inspired gaming controls, and features aimed at more comfortable long-hour viewing.
The nubia Neo 5 Max 5G features a 7.5-inch 1.5K AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and up to 1,000 nits peak brightness. The 18.7:9 aspect ratio was developed using gamer eye-tracking research, with nubia claiming a 27% increase in visible area compared with the standard Neo 5 5G, alongside larger enemy silhouettes and a wider vertical field of view for gaming.
For extended gaming sessions, the display also comes with SGS certification, True DC Dimming, and hardware-level blue light reduction. Ambient Light Adaptation, as well as dedicated Reading and Night modes, are also included to improve viewing comfort.
Beyond gaming, the Neo 5 Max 5G supports several usage modes. Its protective case can be used as a stand for Mini-TV Mode, while Reader Mode provides an ink screen-like viewing experience. Console Mode enables the phone to be connected to larger screens, while Streaming Mode supports low-latency high-definition casting. Users can also run two applications side by side using Floating Window and Split-Screen Mode.
Under the hood, the phone is equipped with a MediaTek D7100 octa-core processor running at up to 2.4GHz and built on a 6nm process. It comes with up to 8GB of RAM, with up to an additional 12GB through memory fusion, alongside 256GB of UFS 2.2 storage. nubia claims an AnTuTu score of over 850,000, while the device is also MLBB 90 FPS Extreme Graphics certified. A 360° Game Antenna is included to maintain 5G connectivity regardless of how the phone is held.
Thermal management is handled by a 30,000mm²-plus cooling system, which nubia says provides a 50% larger dissipation surface than its peers. The setup includes a Dual-Layer Capillary Vapor Chamber and a 3D Raised VC Panel, with the company claiming a 140% improvement in thermal efficiency. During a 60-minute Mobile Legends: Bang Bang session at 90 FPS, the phone is claimed to reach a peak temperature of 38.4°C.
The device also packs a 7,000mAh Super Dual-Cell battery, which is rated for up to 13.4 hours of gaming, 14.1 hours of video playback and 56.4 hours of 5G calls. It supports 45W fast charging, reaching 50% from empty in 30.9 minutes, together with Bypass Charging for gaming while plugged in and 10W reverse wireless charging. Extreme Mode can provide a further 22.9 minutes of gaming when the battery level reaches 5%. A 90-degree gaming cable design is also included for more comfortable charging while playing.
For gaming controls, the Neo 5 Max 5G comes with Neo Triggers 5.0, NeoTap Esports Touch Algorithm, and Magic Touch 3.0. The shoulder triggers feature a 990Hz sampling rate and 4.7ms hardware response latency, while the wider key spacing and larger touch area are designed to support four-finger controls.
The NeoTap algorithm is designed around FPS gaming, with nubia claiming reductions in tap and sliding full-link latency compared with the Neo 5 5G. It also features Touch Acceleration and Regional Anti-Mistouch Optimisation, although nubia notes that NeoTap will be made available through a future OTA update. Magic Touch 3.0 uses AI to help prevent accidental inputs from wet or oily fingers. A high-precision gyroscope completes the control system, targeting faster and more precise rotational movements in games.
Audio is handled by dual real symmetrical speakers with an anti-block hardware design, delivering up to 300% louder volume according to nubia, together with Dolby Atmos spatial audio. The phone also features a Z-Axis linear motor for real-time vibration feedback during gameplay.
On the software side, Demi AI Copilot 2.0 provides a Gaming Coach supporting titles including Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, Free Fire and PUBG, alongside a 24/7 Gaming Chatbot and context-aware Auto-Chat feature. AI Game Space 5.0 adds performance optimisation, trigger macros, smart notifications, AI Trigger with behavioural learning, and key remapping.
The Neo 5 Max 5G features an Eagle Eye RGB design with dynamic lighting that reacts to gameplay. It measures 180.9 × 88.44 × 8.0mm and weighs 245g, with Shadow Black and Cyber Silver offered in Malaysia. The phone also includes Private Space encryption for personal data, applications, and files.
In Malaysia, the nubia Neo 5 Max 5G is available from 17 August 2026 in an 8GB + 256GB configuration priced at RM1,399. The 8GB + 512GB model is scheduled to arrive in September 2026.
As part of its early bird promotion running from 17 August to 16 September 2026, the 8GB + 256GB model is available for RM1,299 and comes with a free nubia Cooler, while stocks last.
The nubia Neo 5 Max 5G is available through nubia’s official online stores on Shopee, Lazada, and TikTok, as well as selected offline outlets at IOI City Mall, IOI Mall Puchong, Lowyat Plaza, and Plaza Merdeka Mall in Kuching. It is also available through authorised retailers including DirectD and SS Solution at Kelana Jaya.
