Microsoft Announces Surface Duo 2

Microsoft had recently announced the latest Surface Duo 2 during their online launch event. The new Surface Duo 2 was unveiled with several other Surface products like the new Surface Pro 8, Surface Go 3, and the Surface Laptop Studio, just to name a few, that will have Windows 11 installed from the factory.

The Surface Duo 2 is the brand’s second iteration on a folding tablet, or some would suggest a phablet. As the name suggests, the ‘Duo’ stands for its dual 5.8-inch PixelSense Fusion displays that have high resolution and could be folded open to an 8.3-inch screen for more screen space for productivity or for a greater immersive experience. The hinge, which is also called the Revolutionary Hinge allows for different screen orientations, being able to fold like a book or tent, catering to different usages. The overall footprint of the device is also relatively thin, when folded open, the device comes in at a thickness of only 5.5mm thin and weighs in at only 284 grams.

The Surface Duo 2 also has support for 5G network support, giving the fastest, smoothest connection possible for better productivity. Furthermore, the Surface Duo comes with a triple-lens camera setup on the device, capable of capturing vibrant, high-quality photos and 4K videos. The triple-lens setup consists of a wide-angle lens, a telephoto lens, and an ultra-wide lens which has features like optical image stabilization, optical zoom, and low light photography. The front-facing camera is also optimized for video calls and selfies, with a feature called Eye Contact that helps adjust your gaze on video calls so you can appear as if you’re looking directly at the camera.

The Surface Duo 2 starts at a retail price of $1,499.99, which is around RM6,259.82 (as of 24/9/21) and has yet to be sold in Malaysia officially.
