New Mercedes-Benz S-Class Family Officially Launched in Malaysia

The all-new Mercedes-Benz S-Class family is finally here in Malaysia! Mercedes-Benz Malaysia today officially launched four new luxury cars in the S-Class family — S 450 L, AMG S 63 Coupe, S 560 Cabriolet, and the Maybach S 560.

Firstly, the Mercedes-Benz S 450 L is a luxury limousine. It is powered by a 3.0-litre six-cylinder petrol engine from an all-new Mercedes-Benz family of powertrains paired with a 9G-TRONIC automatic transmission, developing an output of 367 hp with 500 Nm of torque for a 0-100km/h time of just 5.4 seconds.

The company claims that it is the world’s bestselling luxury limousine. Indeed, the car is so premium and it also comes with features like DISTRONIC PLUS proximity control, AIRMATIC suspension, the Widescreen Cockpit with COMAND Online infotainment, a Burmester Surround Sound system, and MULTIBEAM LED headlights among others.

Retailing from RM699,888 (OTR without Insurance), the S 450 L is offered at launch in locally-assembled format as an S 450 L AMG Line variant. There’s also the designo paint option, which will cost you more at RM705,888.

Next up, the Mercedes-AMG S 63 Coupe is the performance beast in the family. The car is powered by a 4.0-litre biturbo V8 engineered by AMG, producing 612 hp and an immense 900 Nm of torque, transferring power to the rear wheels via a nine-speed AMG Speedshift MCT gearbox for a ballistic century sprint of just 4.2 seconds.

The car comes with the signature AMG Panamericana grille with a new Jet Wing design for the front apron and air intakes. Additionally, you can also see a lot of carbon fiber bodywork around the car.

The car also comes with the new OLED rear lamps, a total of 66 OLEDs (33 left and 33 right) produce an unmistakable light signature, which is combined with a Coming Home function.

The AMG S 63 Coupe comes with AMG RIDE CONTROL+ suspension with adaptive adjustable damping – offering the perfect setup for leisurely grand touring comfort to sharp sportiness.

Like other AMG cars, it also comes with four different AMG DYNAMIC SELECT drive programs “Comfort”, “Sport”, “Sport+” and “Individual”. Each drive program modifies key parameters such as the response of the engine, transmission, suspension, steering, ESP and all-wheel drive in the S 63 Coupe. Not to forget there’s also the “RACE” drive program.

Mercedes-Benz S 560 Cabriolet

If you are that kind of person that likes convertible cars, like me, the S 560 Cabriolet is definitely the one that catches your eyes. It is kind of like the combination of S 450 L and AMG S 63 Coupe, which offers the latest driving, safety and convenience technologies like the new Energizing Comfort control from the S-Class limousine. Furthermore, it also comes with the same rear lamps as the AMG S 63 Coupe.

At the same time, the car also comes with the Swarovski crystals nestled within the headlamps and floating OLED taillights elements. Powering the car is a new 4.0-litre biturbo V8, delivering 469 hp with 700 Nm while full-support AIRMATIC air suspension fitted as standard ensures comfort follows every thrilling ride.

The Mercedes-Maybach S-Class is the icon of luxury of the S-Class family. It comes with features such as the grille with its vertical struts, optional two-tone paintwork, a selection of 20-inch wheels exclusive to the Maybach. The car also comes with unrivalled craftsmanship on the most exclusive materials comes to the fore with Maybach Exclusive black nappa leather upholstery with a choice of copper-, gold- or platinum-colored topstitching while optional trim inserts appear in beautiful design flowing lines Magnolia wood.

The Mercedes-Maybach S-Class is offered in V8-powered S 560 and V12-powered S 650 formats, priced from RM1.4 million with further individualization and personalization available upon request.

Tech Inside

The all-new Mercedes-Benz S-Class family comes with quite a few techs. It has two 12.3-inch high-resolution displays under one shared glass cover blend into a wide-screen cockpit and as a central element consequently emphasize the horizontal orientation of the interior design. The wide-screen cockpit comes with COMAND Online infotainment. It also offers features like Distronic Plus semi-autonomous driving (level 2 autonomous driving), Air Body Control suspension, and a Burmester Surround Sound system.
