Huawei P30 Series Officially Announced

It’s that time of the year again for a new Huawei flagship. This time around, we got the Huawei P30 series, which consists of the P30 Pro and P30. According to Huawei, the P series stands for photography, which emphasizes a lot on its camera department.

The P30 Pro comes with a new Leica Quad Camera System, which has a 40MP main camera with the SuperSpectrum sensor, a 20MP ultra-wide angle camera, an 8MP telephoto camera, and a ToF camera. Selfie wise, the phone has a 32MP front camera.

The SuperSpectrum sensor comes with RYYB pixels, instead of the traditional RGGB Bayer filter, allowing the phone to reach up to ISO 409,600. The 8MP telephoto camera, which also calls SuperZoom Lens, supports 5x optical zoom, 10x lossless hybrid zoom, and 50x digital zoom. Most importantly, it is also optical stabilized, just like the 40MP main camera.

The rest of the specs include:

  • 6.47-inch Full HD+ Curved OLED Dewdrop Display
  • Kirin 980 octa-core processor
  • Up to 8GB RAM
  • Up to 512GB storage
  • 4,200mAh battery with Huawei SuperCharge (40W) and Huawei Wireless Quick Charge (15W)
  • EMUI 9.1 based on Android Pie

The phone is also IP68 certified for water and dust resistant. The phone comes in five colors: Breathing Crystal, Amber Sunrise, Aurora, Pearl White, and Black.

As for the P30, it is a less powerful device with a smaller screen, smaller battery, and one camera less than the P30 Pro. It uses Leica Triple Camera on its back — 40MP f/1.8 + 16MP ultra-wide angle camera + 8MP telephoto camera. The telephoto camera comes with 3x optical zoom, 5x lossless hybrid zoom, and 30x digital zoom. Additionally, its rear camera can reach up to ISO 204,800, not as high as the P30 Pro. Selfie wise, there’s the same 32MP front camera.

The rest of the specs are quite identical:

  • 6.1-inch Full HD+ OLED Dewdrop Display
  • Kirin 980 octa-core processor
  • Up to 8GB RAM
  • Up to 256GB storage
  • 3,650mAh battery with Huawei SuperCharge
  • EMUI 9.1 based on Android Pie

Unlike the P30 Pro, the phone is only IP53 water and dust resistant. It also comes in the same five colors: Breathing Crystal, Amber Sunrise, Aurora, Pearl White, and Black.

Both Huawei P30 Pro and P30 will be launched in Malaysia on 2nd April 2019.
