HUAWEI Mate X2 Unfolds to an 8-Inch Device

HUAWEI has just announced its latest foldable flagship device — the HUAWEI Mate X2. The device features the new Falcon Wing Design, making the device looks like a phone when folded. This time around, HUAWEI took the same approach as Samsung, featuring outer and inner displays.

The HUAWEI Mate X2’s outer display is a 6.45-inch Full HD+ OLED display with a 90Hz refresh rate and 240Hz touch-sampling rate. When it’s unfolded, you’ll see an 8-inch (2,480 x 2,200 pixels) OLED 90Hz display with an 8:7.1 aspect ratio. The inner display only has a 180Hz touch-sampling rate, though.

Powering the device is a Kirin 9000 processor with 8GB RAM and either 256GB or 512GB storage. In terms of camera, the Mate X2 has a quad-camera setup on the back — 50MP Ultra Vision Camera (Wide Angle, f/1.9 aperture, OIS) + 16MP Cine Camera (Ultra-Wide Angle, f/2.2 aperture) + 12MP Telephoto Camera (3x Optical Zoom, f/2.4 aperture, OIS) + 8MP SuperZoom Camera (10x Optical Zoom, f/4.4 aperture, OIS). Unlike the Galaxy Z Fold2, it only has a single 16MP selfie camera on the outer screen.

The HUAWEI Mate X2 runs on EMUI 11 based on Android 10 with some multitasking features to take advantage of its larger inner screen. It packs a 4,500mAh battery. The device supports 55W wired HUAWEI SuperCharge technology. The device comes in four colors — Black, Crystal Blue, Crystal Pink, and White.

The HUAWEI Mate X2 will be available in China starting 25 February 2021 for suggested retail prices of RMB17,999 for the 256GB model and RMB18,999 for the 512GB model, that’s more than RM10k after converted.
