HUAWEI Mate 40 Series Officially Announced

HUAWEI has finally announced its new flagship in the second half of the year — the HUAWEI Mate 40 series. There a number of devices in the Mate 40 series, which include the Mate 40, Mate 40 Pro, Mate 40 Pro+, and collaboration with PORSCHE DESIGN.

Mate 40

The Mate 40 is the entry-level model in the Mate 40 series, it sports a 6.5-inch Full HD+ 90Hz OLED display with a 240Hz touch sampling. Powering the phone is a Kirin 9000E processor (octa-core CPU and 22-core Mali-G78 GPU) with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage.

In terms of camera, the phone has a triple-camera setup on the back — 50MP f/1.9 main + 16MP ultra-wide + 8MP 3x telephoto. Selfie wise, it has a 13MP f/2.4 front-facing camera.

The phone packs a 4,200mAh battery and supports 40W HUAWEI SuperCharge, there’s no wireless charging, though. It runs on EMUI 11 based on Android 10 and without GMS, obviously. The phone comes in five colors — Mystic Silver, White, Black, Green, and Yellow. The Green and Yellow variants have a leather finish.

Mate 40 Pro

As for the Mate 40 Pro, it has a larger 6.76-inch OLED 90Hz display with a higher screen resolution at 2,772 x 1,344 pixels. Powering the phone is a 5nm Kirin 9000 processor with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage. Its Kirin 9000 processor is slightly more powerful than the Kirin 9000E, which has the same octa-core CPU but a better 24-core Mali-G78 GPU.

In terms of camera, the Mate 40 Pro has a triple-camera setup with a Laser autofocus system — 50MP f/1.9 main + 20MP ultra-wide + 12MP 7x periscope lens. Selfie wise, it has a 13MP front-facing camera and a 3D depth-sensing camera for face unlock purpose.

The phone packs a 4,400mAh battery that supports 66W HUAWEI SuperCharge and 50W Wireless HUAWEI SuperCharge. It also runs on EMUI 11 based on Android 10 and the color options are similar to the Mate 40 as well.

Mate 40 Pro+

The Mate 40 Pro+ is a slightly improved version over the Mate 40 Pro, it has a ceramic back that comes in White and Black. The rest is quite similar to the Mate 40 Pro except for a few things — up to 12GB RAM and a different camera setup. It now has a total of five cameras on the back — 50MP f/1.9 main + 20MP ultra-wide + 12MP 3x telephoto + 8MP 10x SuperZoom + 3D Depth Sensing.

PORSCHE DESIGN HUAWEI Mate 40 RS

Finally, we got the PORSCHE DESIGN HUAWEI Mate 40 RS, which is actually a Mate 40 Pro+ with a different design. It still has the ceramic back but the Space Ring camera design has now been replaced with a rounded octagon look, together with the PD design language. It also comes with the maximum 12GB RAM + 512GB storage configuration.

Other than the HUAWEI Mate 40 series, HUAWEI has also announced the PORSCHE DESIGN HUAWEI Watch GT 2, FreeBuds Studio, and other accessories.
