HUAWEI Band 6 Review

Introduction

The HUAWEI Band 6 was launched a couple of months ago, which is the company’s latest affordable smart wearable health tracking device. This time around, the main selling point is the bigger screen. The company claims that the screen is 148% larger, compared to the HUAWEI Band 4 Pro. I’ve been using the band for quite some time, and here’s the full review.

HUAWEI Band 6 Specs

Design

The HUAWEI Band 6 actually looks quite similar to the last year’s HUAWEI Watch Fit but in a smaller size. It has a boxy design and there’s a single button on the right side.

The back of the band has an optical sensor, which measures your heart rate as well as blood oxygen level.

Like many other smart bands, the strap can be changed, attached to the main body with plastic clasps. You can replace it with other straps easily if you are bored with the default straps.

Display

Here comes the main selling point of the HUAWEI Band 6 — the screen. It has a bigger 1.47-inch (194 x 368 pixels) AMOLED display, which is nearly two times bigger than most of the smart bands selling in the market. It has a choppy refresh rate, which is expected on a smart band, but it does consume less power and the bigger screen makes the watch faces look better.

Software & Features

The HUAWEI Band 6 uses the HUAWEI Health app to store all the data and also customize the band settings. The app has improved a lot compared to my last encounter. You can now change the watch face even on the iOS version. The overall app experience is quite similar to before, just that HUAWEI has polished it.

Since it’s not a smartwatch, you can’t use it to reply to messages, but you can still read your notifications. That bigger screen really makes the entire experience a lot better. You can also use it to control the music playing on your phone.

Battery Life

HUAWEI claims that the HUAWEI Band 6 has up to 14 days of battery life. Based on my usage, I was able to get 10 days of battery life, which is not bad at all. In terms of charging speed, the smart band gets fully charged within an hour.

Final Words

Retailing at RM219, the HUAWEI Band 6 no doubt is the best smart band you can get right now. I personally really love its bigger screen, which really makes everything looks better. If you are looking for a smart band right now, you can just go right ahead and buy it.
