HTC U12+ Goes Official with Dual-Camera

The wait is over! Introducing the HTC U12+, the latest flagship by the Taiwanese company. The phone sports a 6-inch QHD+ (2,880 x 1,440) Super LCD 6 display, which also supports HDR 10.

Like its predecessor, the U12+ comes with the same liquid surface design language, available in Translucent Blue, Ceramic Black, and Flame Red. Additionally, the phone is also IP68-rated for water and dust resistance. The phone packs the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor with 6GB RAM and up to 128GB expandable storage.

In terms of camera, the U12+ has a quad-camera setup — two on the rear and two on the front. The back has a 12MP wide-angle f/1.75 UltraPixel 4 camera and also a 16MP f/2.6 telephoto camera. Furthermore, there’s also UltraSpeed Autofocus 2 (phase detection + laser autofocus), OIS + EIS, HDR Boost 2, Bokeh mode in real-time, and Pro mode that supports manual controls, 32-second long exposure, and RAW format. The dual 8MP front camera setup also comes with Bokeh mode in real-time and HDR Boost, as well as being used for face unlock.

HTC has also improved the Edge Sense feature, now called as Edge Sense 2. The new Edge Sense knows which hand you are using, giving you the one-handed freedom to:

• Double tap to navigate the device
• Hold to lock the screen orientation
• Squeeze the sides for taking photos and videos, zooming in on maps, and virtually any interaction

Once again, there’s no 3.5mm audio jack. However, HTC does include the USonic earbuds in the box, which supports Active Noise Cancellation. HTC claims that the U12+ louder-than-ever BoomSound speakers, there’s also aptX HD that supports 24-bit Bluetooth audio.

Juicing up the device is a 3,500mAh battery, which also supports Quick Charge 3.0. The phone runs on Android Oreo with HTC Sense and can be upgraded to Android P too. The HTC U12+ will be available in Translucent Blue from the end of June onwards in Malaysia.
