Recently, it has been suggested that Taiwanese tech giant ASUS is looking into the possibility of acquiring its fellow smartphone manufacturer HTC . HTC has now commented on this by saying that there has not been any contact from ASUS and they would not consider an acquisition at this point in time. As for the here and now, HTC has reiterated its continued commitment to designing world class products in line with its brand promise.
In spite of its sharp drop in share price, HTC has managed to make some small gains yesterday thanks to the speculation. HTC has been a little sluggish in the financial department and the underperformance of its flagship One M9 did not help matters. Its chairperson and CEO, Cher Wang has revealed that a new Hero product would be launched in October. Hopefully that will finally be able to turn HTC’s fortunes around.
