HONOR Magic3 Series Goes Official

Months after the debut of the HONOR 50 series, HONOR has officially announced the new HONOR Magic3 series. The HONOR Magic3 series marks the company’s return to the flagship segment, and this time around, there are three devices — Magic3, Magic3 Pro, and Magic3 Pro+.

The HONOR Magic3 and Magic3 Pro share lots of similarities with some minor differences. Both are the first IMAX-enhanced phones to offer exclusive 3D LUT color grading profiles and video recording in the LOG format.

Both phones sport a 6.76-inch 89-degree Super Curved OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and Full HD+ (2,772 x 1,344) resolution. The screens support 10-bit color output and are HDR10+ certified, together with a pill-shaped cutout for the 13MP selfie camera and a 3D ToF depth sensor.

The HONOR Magic3 is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 processor with 8GB RAM and up to 256GB storage, while the Magic3 Pro is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 888+ processor with up to 12GB RAM and 512GB storage.

In terms of camera, both phones come with a 50MP Sony IMX766 main camera with a 64MP monochrome sensor and a 13MP ultra-wide lens. The Pro model also gets an additional 64MP telephoto lens with 3.5x optical zoom and up to 100x digital zoom.

Both phones pack 4,600 mAh batteries with 66W wired SuperCharge. The Pro model also supports 50W wireless SuperCharge on any compatible Qi charger. The Magic3 has an IP54 water and dust rating while the Pro goes up to IP68. Both phones run on Magic UI 5 on top of Android 11 with Google Mobile Services.

The HONOR Magic3 comes in two designs — the Blue Hour and Golden Hour models have synthetic leather while the classic Black and White options feature a more traditional glass back. As for the Magic3 Pro, it doesn’t have the Blue Hour option.

The HONOR Magic3 Pro+ is the top dog in the HONOR Magic3 series. The phone shares the same 6.76-inch 89-degree Super Curved OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and Full HD+ (2,772 x 1,344) resolution. You get the same pill-shaped cutout for the 13MP selfie camera and a 3D ToF depth sensor.

Powering the phone is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 888+ processor with 12GB RAM and 512GB storage. The phone comes with a quad-camera setup on the back — 50MP Sony IMX700 2.44μm 1/1.28” sensor main camera with OIS + 64MP monochrome sensor + 64MP ultra-wide lens + 64MP telephoto lens with OIS (3.5x optical zoom and up to 100x digital zoom).

To be honest, the Magic3 Pro+ looks a lot like the PORSCHE DESIGN HUAWEI Mate 40 RS. The phone comes with a Nano Ceramic body with IP68 water and dust rating. It also packs a 4,600mAh battery with 66W wired SuperCharge and 50W wireless SuperCharge. The phone will be available in two colors — Ceramic Black and Ceramic White.
