The Google Pixel Watch 5 retains the familiar round design of its predecessor while bringing upgraded storage, larger batteries, enhanced health tracking, and Gemini Intelligence.

Like the previous generation, the smartwatch is available in 41mm and 45mm sizes, with both Wi-Fi-only and LTE variants. It also features a round AMOLED display with a peak brightness of up to 3,000 nits.

Powering the Pixel Watch 5 is the same Snapdragon Wear W5 Gen 2 chipset found on its predecessor. However, Google has doubled the built-in storage from 32GB to 64GB.

Battery capacity has also increased slightly. The 41mm model comes with a 332mAh battery, while the 45mm version packs a 465mAh battery, compared with 325mAh and 455mAh respectively on the Pixel Watch 4.

On the software front, the Pixel Watch 5 runs Wear OS 7 and comes with Gemini Intelligence built in. Google describes Gemini as a “personal, proactive assistant”, bringing AI-powered assistance directly to the smartwatch.

Health tracking has also been improved, with Google claiming that the Pixel Watch 5 offers its most accurate sleep tracking yet on a Pixel Watch. Other health and fitness features include pulse loss detection, SpO2 monitoring, ECG, skin temperature tracking, and built-in GPS.

For connectivity, the smartwatch supports Bluetooth 6, Wi-Fi 6, NFC, and UWB. It also carries IP68 and 5ATM ratings for protection against dust and water.

The 41mm Pixel Watch 5 will be offered in Matte Black, Polished Silver, Champagne Gold and Satin Pyrite finishes, while the 45mm model will be available in all of these finishes except Champagne Gold. Users can also choose from a range of watch bands, including a Stephen Curry special edition band.

Pre-orders for the Pixel Watch 5 open on 12 August, with the smartwatch set to be available in Malaysia from 20 August 2026. Pricing starts at:

  • Pixel Watch 5 41mm – From RM1,799
  • Pixel Watch 5 45mm – From RM1,999

Pixel Tag

Google Pixel Tag

The Pixel Tag is Google’s new item tracker, using the company’s Find Hub network to help users locate their belongings.

It is made from stainless steel, which Google says is designed to resist flexing and cracking, while its IP67 rating protects against dust and water. The tracker supports Bluetooth, including Bluetooth Channel Sounding, as well as UWB.

A built-in speaker can play a sound to help users locate the Pixel Tag. There is also a button on the tracker that can be pressed to make a connected phone ring, making it easier to locate a misplaced smartphone.

Google claims the Pixel Tag can deliver up to one year of battery life. Its battery is also user-replaceable, allowing owners to swap it out themselves when required.

Setting up the Pixel Tag is designed to be straightforward. Users simply need to pull out the battery tab and bring the tracker close to an Android device running Android 9 or newer. It then pairs through Google’s Fast Pair feature.

The Pixel Tag can also be shared with up to 10 people, allowing families or groups to track shared belongings. Users can enable Left Behind alerts as well, which can notify them when they may have left an item behind.

Google has also included safety features to help prevent unwanted tracking. A phone will automatically alert users if an unknown Pixel Tag is travelling with them, while also providing instructions on how to make the tracker ring and guidance on what to do next.

Google has yet to reveal Malaysian pricing for the Pixel Tag. However, the tracker is expected to launch in Malaysia sometime in November 2026.
